Oh please. One random dude on the internet? He had like 9000 hits, thanks mostly in part to people like yourself spreading it around. |
Just type in connecticut shooting conspiracy. Plenty of nutjobs claiming there was a second shooter. |
I don't know what you're referring to exactly, but obviously people would suspect there might have been a second shooter when it was even being reported in the media.
| Quote: |
CBS News reports that a potential second suspect was in custody and that SWAT was investigating the home of the suspect. It was not known if that alleged second suspect fired any of the shots in the massacre.
A witness tells WFSB-TV that a second man was taken out of the woods in handcuffs wearing a black jacket and camouflage pants and telling parents on the scene, I did not do it. |

I also find it funny how you call people nutjobs, but offer no counterfactuals to anything. If there was clearly no second shooter (I haven't looked into it) then why not just post a link to prove it? |

| The media got so much wrong with this story. They originally said that he killed his mom at the school where she worked (which obviously was false). They also said a school employee let the dude in (he broke in). If they got that stuff wrong, kinda makes you wonder... |

Yeah, I think it's actually the worst coverage I've ever seen of an event like this. Makes you wonder if they're just that incompetent, or if they're just lying/making it up as they go to support whatever agenda they have. |

Incompetent. Due to the internet and 24/7 news channels, everyone wants to be the first to report something. Accuracy isn't a priority. Pretty sad. Reminds me of when the Supreme Court ruling on Obamacare was made and at least one of the news channels got it wrong. Good job guys. |

At least the media corrected the record fairly quickly. How long did it take after Columbine for the killers to be reported as popular bullies they were rather than bullied outcasts they were mistaken for? |

See, I didn't even know that. I must have tuned out after the initial reporting.
That's one danger in all of this - if you don't keep watching the "updates", you're not just out of date, but actually misinformed. |

Yeah, I wasn't aware of that either. |

Yeah, wow, never knew any of that. I did some research:

| Quote: |
| "These are not ordinary kids who were bullied into retaliation," psychologist Peter Langman writes in his new book, Why Kids Kill: Inside the Minds of School Shooters. "These are not ordinary kids who played too many video games. These are not ordinary kids who just wanted to be famous. These are simply not ordinary kids. These are kids with serious psychological problems." |

Holy crap!
Very good article with a lot of information I certainly wasn't aware of. Partly, this may be because I, along with a lot of people, find stories like these too painful to read up on; but also because the 'news' these days is generally far more about reporting opinions and still more opinions instead of information.
I just wish the article had gone more into the real question of 'why'. Why or how they could possibly have felt justified in such an act. The article also says:
| Quote: |
The Secret Service found that school shooters usually tell other kids about their plans.
"Other students often even egg them on," says Newman, who led a congressionally mandated study on school shootings. "Then they end up with this escalating commitment. It's not a sudden snapping." |
To me this suggests that other kids do not find the idea of a school shooting horrifying and even approve, which again begs the question 'why?'. These kids need someone to teach them morals and values, some adults who are not hypocrites.
The latest shooter was mentally ill, so the cases may not be comparable. But I stand by what I posted earlier - that a better society, inter alia one which allowed parents more time with kids, would be one way to avert tragedies like these. |

No, I think other students egg them on becacuse they really don't believe they'll do it. I think they're being sarcastic. Unfortunately the future shooters think they're being serious. |
