Do you sometimes feel somehow better, superior, smarter or whatever than some people? I think I feel that way sometimes. Then also I may sooner or later say to myself, "That's silly. I'm not better.... etc..."

But the fact is I do feel that way sometimes. Then the opinion that I shouldn't is just as silly as the fact I suppose!

I think I do sometimes "look down" on some Koreans. And yet the ones I look down on are usually total strangers to me, not people I have ever spoken to, if indeed we could even manage a little broken language chat. What am I looking down on, I who have many faults and flaws of my own? Is a feeling of superiority similar (psychologically) to a feeling of being inferior? Aren't both of these feelings silly, based on comparison and envy?

I know I really have nothing to feel "superior" or even "inferior" about, really. But still the feeling arises at times, like a conditioned reflex I guess.

I thought everybody looked down on others. Its part of the basic make-up of a person, to feel superior to others in some way...I suppose I always have, too, although maybe a bit less and less nowadays.
Someone once said to me, "why do you always look so proud..when you have nothing"... I couldn't give an answer but I guess it comes down to a feeling of self-worth..that your life, experience, and what you think is very important- be you a rich or poor person....

I look down on others sometimes...

For example...if I am riding the escalator and I am on a higher step..I just might look down on the people behind me.

Same thing happens to me when I look out of the window at my school (5h floor)....then I look down on people.

I look down on my students since they are usually about 3-4 feet tall...

I am a bad person...

Worse case: When I flew into Inchon Airport the other day, I looked out the window as we were making our descent...at that time I must have looked down on millions of people...my god! Laughing

Don't worry about it. Just don't start sneering at them and poking them with sticks.

How about them NBA players. What snobs they are. They look down on everybody.

my original question probably should have been... "Are you ever a snob?"

Guess what... we're almost all snobs!

We give importance to ourselves and our own experiences. That makes us snobs.

Sober - no.

Drunk - yes. I will only talk to very select people when I am drunk.

I'm an arrogant s.o.b at the best of times. Good little bit of "chaputz" goes a long way.
