|
|
Hey all.
Has something changed recently with regards to the E2 visa application?
I am helping my friend get a job over here and got her to send me a notarised/apostilled COPY of her degree.
When the director of the school took in the documents to apply at immigration, she was told that the ORIGINAL degree with an apostille was required.
My other friend got her E2 6 weeks ago using a COPY. And I have found no evidence of a law change.
Is this kimmigration not knowing their left hand from their right?
Or did something sneak past me?
Let me know please, thanks |

It used to be that an original degree was fine. For about 5 years now, an apostilled/verified notarized copy of the degree is needed.
Your boss might have been given old information by someone, or he is used to the old way with original degrees being fine. Maybe, just maybe immigration said an original was acceptable (as a sort of short cut)
You will need to help your boss with the requirements. Rather then telling him, he/she is wrong show them on the Korean immigration site if you can. Nothing like getting the boss all testy or being stubborn.
Good Luck. |

Nono, you misunderstood...
We have the COPY with apostille but it was rejected at immigration.
We were told at immigration that it can't be used and we need the ORIGINAL. |

Really! Maybe they want the original and the copy too. Like they want to just look and compare the two. Likely they will give back. Is this directly from the immigration official? As far as I know the you have to submit a notarized COPY of the degree which is apostilled.
Could this be a tactic by the hagwon boss, to hold on to the degree as a sort of power trip? |

Tell the immigration officer to check his facts. Original degree is not a requirement. |

It's either the bolded or someone was still working off the effects of a soju hangover and couldn't be bothered to do their job. No way would they ever make you apostille an original diploma, as it would be ruined. |
