I just want to buy a Galaxy Note 2 and just the machine, without signing a contract but I have been to every store so far and they say that they don't sell just the phones here.

Is this true? Do I have to sign a contract to get one?

Where can I just buy the phone? It's not like there is a Samsung store..

Take a Korean and there are Samsung mobile stores. Be prepared to pay over a grand.

Completely agree, you will end up paying a fortune as Koreans rarely buy non-contact phones.
Also why don't you want a contact? I'm pretty sure you could transfer your current contact over onto the Note2 (for a small ish fee).

Why would you want to? It's going to be at least 1k (dollars) and what are you going to do with it? Hell of an expensive paperweight. Theres a Korean site where you can buy used phones ask a Korean.

It's possible, but take a Korean with you. Otherwise they will be absolutely confused as to why you would want to.

Apparently it is so rare that there isn't a way to do it over their nice computers (or they just don't know how) and they have to call some office or something.

Anyways, I wonder why they don't make an outright purchase easier? Because the cost of the phone is recovered 100% right off the bat. Win-win for everyone.

Just get a barely used one off craigslist Seoul. People get them and regret later. Smile

Your best bet to get a Note 2 is to buy it on Amazon. You can actually buy the phone a lot cheaper off Amazon. I think Gmarket also sells them too. You should be aware of a few things the N7100 Note 2 is 3g and will work in the US. The N7105 Note 2 it 4g LTE and from what I understand is not compatible with US 4g but will work fine in Korea. You should also consider that the new Note and S series phone will be coming out in January 2013.
