hey just wondering if anyone has had LASEK done lately? I'm having mine done at DREAM EYE CENTRE this friday night after work....i need to be at work on Monday morning though....think this is do-able? The docs say yes...i'm skeptical.

To answer your question, I don't think it's doable. I had LASEK at Dream Eye in June and I was pretty much useless for 3 days. I went back to work after 5 days and my vision was not clear, but functional. From what I've read this is pretty much the norm with LASEK. LASIK is a different story.

I don't regret having LASEK done and would do it again if I had to do it over again. But one of the things that is rarely discussed is how long it takes to achieve your final results. For some people it takes a month, many others about 3 or 6 months, some people over a year. Even though I got good functional vision after 2 weeks, my left eye is still ghosting at 2 months out. Of course the improvement is still night and day, but expecting perfect vision may be setting up for a letdown.

what was your vision at when u got it done? how old r u? ...i'm 28 with -3 vision in both eyes...apparently a perfect candidate with no myopia/astigmatism so...apparently recovery times vary depending on how bad your eyes were....just curious

My vision was pretty bad, -7 and -8, so it's true my recovery time was expected to be longer. I'm 30. The doc told me that my recovery was one of the fastest he's seen in a high myope. But if you check out laser eye surgery forums on the net, there are many stories of people with low myopia who are still at +/- 1 diopters even months after surgery. It seems to vary widely from person to person.

I have astigmatism and +.5 in my right eye and no astigmatism and -4.75 in my left eye. Do you know is LASIK is possible for that kind of setup?

You may be pushing the timeline a bit but it's possible. I had mine done Thursday late afternoon. The 4 hours after the surgery sucked. Thursday late evening until Friday evening was fine. Friday night until Sunday morning was miserable. I was constantly tearing up or hyper sensitive to light. In the middle of the night, the freaking tiny "powering" light of my laptop was even painful to look at. Sunday noonish I was much better. Maybe hold off until Chuseok?

FWIW: I had epicly bad eyes myself. -9.75 in the left and -7.5 in the right with mild astigmatism. The doctors will also tell you that the few days following the surgery your eyes will be at about 60% of your final result. Random note: Their new Gangnam office is uber nice.

I had LASEK done at this place. I now have problems in one of my eyes. I went back home and had two different doctors check my eyes. They shook their heads and did not have anything good to say about the procedure that DE Center did. I use glasses now, but they don't help my one eye. As for my opinion, I would not recommend this place. I also would not trust the guy there that speaks English. He has told me many contradictory statments.

Were the doctors shaking their heads about the condition of your eye or the poor quality of the surgery that was performed? It seems like the latter, but I just want to check since this place is supposed to be one of the best places to go for the surgery in Korea.
