|

I got my documents apostilled by my mum back home in Australia since I'm in Taiwan now. Through a misunderstanding she sent them to me as expected but the apostille is on the back of the original uni degree and the CBC apostille is on a blank A4 paper which is binded to the original. From my understanding these were suppose to be done on photocopies of the originals. Will these be okay? I already spent $200 AUD and spent time sending my docs there then getting my docs sent to me.
I don't know if someone asked this question before. I tried searching for it but search here doesn't work for me. |

The apostilled original certificate will work. Where the apostille is doesn't matter just as long as it's not removed from the certificate. If you wanted a copy of your diploma apostilled you needed to go in person to a notary (say a bank notary) and have it notarized. Whatever is being apostilled has to be notarized with you present and having state or federal identification. Personally I would feel safer with having an actual diploma notarized by the registrar and then having the diploma apostilled.
As far as your CBC, maybe that is the way they apostille it now. Again it's attached so don't remove it or mess with it. Especially if it's a national apostille, they should know what they are doing. |

If your from Australia you could have a problem with the apostille being on your original degree. You need to speak to your University about whether they have a policy of ever producing another original.
I went to Macquarie University and they will not issue a new degree, even if I lose mine in a fire or such. So I now treat my degree even more carefully than my passport.
If your university is the same then you would be crazy to hand over your original to a recruiter, your school or immigration..... you would likely never see it back and it will probably be folded/damaged within minutes.
You need to get a notary to notarise that the photocopy of your degree then take that photocopy to the department of trade and foreign affairs to get it appositled. |

That shouldn't be too much of a problem handing over my original degree to a recruiter, or whoever else and risk losing it. I went to Newcastle University and I did contact them a while ago about getting another one reissued just because I didn't want to send mine all the way back to Oz. They said they'll reissue for a $100 fee and I just need to say it was stolen/destroyed/lost. |
