Hi, I am leaving Korea soon and want to take my Samsung Galaxy S2 with me. The model is SHW M250K and connected through the Show /KT Olleh network. How can I unlock the phone so it can accept any sim card outside of Korea be connected through any network abroad? |

As I understand, your carrier will unlock your phone if it's fully paid for. Call them or visit one of KT's global stores for service in English. |

I called Samsung to ask in preparation for an upcoming trip and was told this as well.
Do you (or anyone else) have any experience using your s2 in Thailand? |

yep. i've used an s2 there.
trust me, the s2 and s3 work in almost every country due to the fact that they utilize quad-band gsm cell radios. |

One thing to check: there is an option to lock the phone to accept only KT simcards using the olleh settings app. Mine was unlocked and I'm assuming that's the default setting. |

i already told you that's the default setting... no need to assume it. and why in the world would you want to lock your phone to kt?
are you the type of person who checks that all their appliances are unplugged before leaving the house? |

I think it's a safety feature to prevent someone from stealing your phone and putting a new SIM card in to use it. It's a feature you can turn on and off in the KT app. It's all in Korean. |
