I am concerned that my visa application might encounter some problems as well. I pulled a runner and left without dealing with my phone contract or paying back the school for flight ect.
The sending the documents over and not getting them sent back is a real pain in the butt. |

Airfare is a contractual agreement, not something that immigration will worry about. The phone contract is probably not enough to cause concern. I think you are safe. |

Wanderlust, what you did is essentially no different to what I did. From my experiences, it depends on the way your school handled things and will continue to handle things...again from my experience, if your school wants to make it very difficult for you to come back, this is something that is well within their power to do. My advice to you is as follows:
1. From my experience, you will probably be alright if you can get back in on your first attempt. If something goes wrong on your first attempt, it will be considered a rejection and thus every other application you make from that point on will be more difficult. A few things could happen...
- immigration may let you in and no problems will occur or..
- immigration will inform your prospective employer and put the ball in their court.
2. I suggest you are honest with your prospective employer from the outset. That way, when and if immigration inform them, they will just say: "we are aware of this, please go ahead with issuing the confirmation number"...
Don't go around the houses and mess things up to the extent that I have.
(As for the airfare and the phone contract, they are not going to prove a hindrance, the flight may have fueled the school however to lodge a series of complaints to immigration.)
Good luck. |

| Unfortunately it also depends on what immigration officer your documents land on the desk of. Every immigration office seems to function as an individual entity and will have their own ideas and ways of doing things...obviously a range of staff work at each office, however from my limited experience, Ansan immigration are extremely strict, extremely rude and completely unwilling to listed to a second side of events. Incheon immigration however are a lot more willing to handle things in a decent manner and were very friendly and helpful to me...Just some random advice. |

Actually Stew the difference between you and wander is that he decided to run from a place that was not treating him badly, to avoid paying back airfare and in the process decided to leave with his Iphone without paying the bill hoping he could unlock it later.
Slight difference. |

Stew. I've done plenty of runners. It's never stopped me from getting another job here. Most of the time I actually tell the recruiters what happend. I'm quite clear that I'm not going to tolerate any BS. If you're in Seoul, there's a job for you.
If you're there to go do an interview with a school (PS or hogwon) then they prefer you over the other applicants who are still back in their home country, who may or may not have their docs ready and may or may not follow through with taking the job, and may or may not seem like a nice person when they meet face to face. Bonus for the school is that if they hire you in Korea, it's way cheaper to send you to Japan for a visa AND they can start you working ASAP. No waiting period like the overseas applicants. It's also a lot easier to negotiate a nicer salary or apartment if you meet the bosses in person.
With the new D10 visas, if your boss screws you over, you just go to the labor board with some proof and voila you can quit without a LOR (even in the first 6 months) and transfer to another school. Sweet! |

That depends on when the school reports you are no longer working for them. Ask them, unless you understand the Korean spoken.
Thank you for tuning in. |

| Good for you for taking some initiative. Your employer can write down any date they like as your last day, so ask them to place it where you want. |

| Applying to Incheon Immi, then the Ansan Branch Immi the second time round (esp. when Incheon Immi said they wouldn't bar any visa issuance) seems suspect and would seem like one's trying to play the system. Objectively, this would count against you in Immi's eyes. |

Take a chance is about all I can offer here. There is no perfect situation for you and perhaps as you seek the perfect solution, good ones are killed off.
U R going to have to take some level of risk beyond the UK borders for this to work out.
Many of us know what it's like to be away from a loved one in another country and there is a pot full of empathy for anybody who has trying times in Korea.
The theme that reoccurs is that the people who get back to where they want/need to be are the ones who jump without knowing absolutely everything about the water.
Might not be comfortable, but it is the truth.
You're on the end of the board, mate. Jump in. |

Stop messing with idiot employers who love making life difficult for E2 visa-holder/slaves. Get an F4(you can since you are married to a Korean) then you can quit and work for anyone you want.
However, E2s get a free apartment F4s do not. |

Why did you resurrect this BS thread instead of starting your own? |
