No. I don't think that is achievable in China.
Any newbie thinking of coming to Korea take note of the above post.

Apparantly you can also make that kind of money in Korea while legally paying less than 3.3% income tax. Do you know if that is also possible in China? |

My friend said exactly the same. He went to China for two weeks, had a terrible time; couldn't believe how bad it was compared to Korea. It culminated in a stray university dog being killed by having its head bashed on an old porcelain sink by builders on his campus who wanted it for the meat. He did a runner a few days later. |

When it comes to eating dogs people automatically assume it is only Koreans that eat them.
However, as the post above shows, certain parts of Southern China and maybe migrant workers in the big cities, also eat dogs. |

That story seems a bit exaggerated. Why would they bash it's head on the sink? They're construction workers. Why wouldn't they use a hammer or a plank? Plus, I think that you've have to be really hungry to knowingly eat a Chinese street dog - right off the street. Yes, I know that a large number of the food dogs DO come from the pound and look pretty mangy, but street dogs in China (I did see a few) look REALLY bad. Like you wouldn't want to even touch them, kind of bad. The thought of actually eating one of them and knowing beyond a doubt what it looked like and what they've been eating.... I'm doubtful. Now, would someone beat a dog to death out of cruelty? That seems a lot more likely. Still, I don't see the connection between the dog killing and your friend's job. You seem to have left out some details in the middle. |

| People in most East Asian countries eat dogs. Korea, China, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia etc. No idea either why it's become a Korean related stereotype and not so in the others. |

| I did 3 years in Korea, and now Ive been in China almost a year. In my opinion China is better. It's more diverse culturally, the food is delicious. I hated Korean food and always thought how could Korea be so close to china and get it all wrong. I have a nice 2 bedroom duplex apartment versus the tiny officetel. China is beautiful. Korea is dull, the gray skies and ugly buildings, oh my....but China is filthy (depends on where you are and who you ask), the people careless, and the pay less. I can't feel the pay is less though, because everything, especially food is cheap. It's a relief from Korea, and you will never hear about or be force fed kimchi again. |

Agreed. Lenovo is the world's second biggest PC manufacturer. They make good tabs. Even bought out IBM not too long ago. They're probably at the stage Samsung was in the early 2000s. Making some decent stuff, but still struggling to shake off some negative stereotypes about the quality of products from their native country. It was only 20 odd years ago that Korea was a laughing stock in the electronic and automobile industries. Hyundais were winning near every prize for the most dangerous cars on the road. Samsung crap died a week after the warranty expired and LG was absolute junk. Remember those old Goldstar TVs and VCR players. Ugh. Anyhow these days all these companies have great reps in the industry for the quality and pricing on their products. Large R&D budgets.
Agreed also about Haier and will throw in Midea http://global.midea.com.cn/midea/ as one to watch in the next decade. Half of my apartment's electrical products are Midea of some kind and I'm happy with them all for the most part.
Wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch of Chinese e-bike manufacturers and solar power companies break out in a big way internationally in the next few years also. |

What is with the person? He needs to switch to decaf. Actually, he sent that letter to me last week, and he sent a similar one out last November to quite a lot of people on here.
Oh, and to the O.P. - forgot to mention another bad thing. I don't know about other areas of China, but in Shanghai, most toilets can't handle toilet paper. You'll have to have throw it in a garbage can. |

Sounds like he had a bad time, but 2 whole weeks in a bad situation means China is so much worse? Makes sense. |
