any different than a Western girl believing in astrology or tarot cards?

Number of Western girls I have dated who believe in either of these things: 0

Sounds like your doing Korean women favour by sparing them your existence, not the other way around.

I think PatrickGBusan has already beaten you to the punch on that assertion. They're all yours. Enjoy.

From your previous posts about dating, I find it hard to believe you were being sarcastic.

So because you never dated a Western girl that believed in astrology means they don't exist?

Plenty of girls are into zodiac and I think that is far more ridiculous than believing that your blood type could have an effect on one's personality.

Far more ridiculous, eh?
Where did you meet these foreign women? At a Wiccan convention?
There seems to be a simple answer, doesn't there? Don't date girls who are into either!
Unfortunately that will leave you with about a 5% pool of Korean girls to date. I have never dated any foreign girl who was into tarot or star signs.

Yes, far more ridiculous. At least your blood could have a biological impact on you. As opposed to, you know, the way the planets were positioned when you were born.

And no, it doesn't take a Wiccan convention to find girls that believe in the zodiac. A lot of girls read horoscopes and take it mildly seriously ("oh my god that's totally me!" type of thing).

The same can be said of Korean girls believing in blood type ("you're such a b-type!" type of thing). I doubt that the majority of either group would take it so seriously as to alter their behavior towards you. The point is that both are pretty harmless beliefs as they exist and shouldn't be a deal breaker unless the girl is absolutely crazy about it.

But people want to hate on Korean girls for something so little. That's fine. Nobody is going to be upset that you aren't dating them, least of all the Korean women. I'd caution people taking the perspective that this makes them somehow inferior though. It really doesn't. Just a silly little cultural thing and something that you can laugh about with a date.

Wow. You are actually cracking the door on this? Really? It 'could'? Really? Like my hair color? Like the size of my nose? Like whether I can roll my tongue or not?

Well, if blood type 'could have a biological impact', then I'm sure something like skin color could also. Maybe we could rank races on which group is 'biologically' most athletic? 'Biologically' most prone to violence?

A person who would believe in this, what else do they find plausible?

Yes, believing in something as UTTERLY STUPID as that blood type impacts personality is no reason to consider those with such a belief inferior to those without. Have you ever considered a job as a Fox News analyst?

You are misrepresenting my argument. I said both things were silly beliefs. But I think it's easier, and more reasonable, to make the mistake of believing that blood type could affect your personality than planets.

By saying that it's "one more reason" not to date them, you are making it seem like you think they are inferior to other women. You are making a value judgment against them for something so silly. Plenty of people believe in stupid little superstitions.

Also, that part in bold there, nice use of reductio ad absurdum. Have you also considered a career at Fox?

My experience exactly. I've never met any girl here who ABSOLUTELY believes it. I'm sure they exist - no doubt, but the people I meet seem to be a lot more sane.

I think they believe in it a lot more than the average western woman believes in their horoscope.

At my last job, we did a series of teacher training seminars with this topic in an activity. Well over half of the teachers believed in the blood type thing or at least think it's a big factor.

They have a ton of stereotypes based on each type also. Example, type B is attractive but also the selfish bad boy so usually not marriage material. They gave each other relationship advice based on blood type too.

It's also displayed on their Facebook pages so it must be a pretty big factor for many people here.

Many knew that westerners really don't care about blood type much, but the other ones were shocked I didn't know mine. Not a deal breaker for dating but maybe a factor, especially if you're the "wrong" type and they discuss with friends.

Funny, I just ran into a dude who was friends with my ex after not seeing him for almost a year in a half. After all this time, he brought up her craziness and informed me that it's because her blood type is AB.

Moral of the story: it's not just the women.

Why thanks (I think). Laughing

As for Modernist, well he is doing Korean women a huge favor by leaving them alone. I am sure he is compensating by hounding other women however so all is well.

Obviously skin color doesn't cause better athletes. However, there is most definitely a correlation between skin color and athletic abilities. Being a certain skin color isn't what causes one to be a better athlete. It's just a way to identify them (as there are other causes that tend to come along with skin color.

No, your blood type does not affect who you are as a person directly. But, perhaps it could affect your body or mind in other ways, though I haven't a clue because I know nothing about blood. I'm not sticking up for this idea of fortune blood-telling. I just wish you hadn't made the argument you made because you're wrong (regardless if your being politically correct). Now, I need to give the blood theory more scientific consideration...

There actually is some evidence that the season you were born in affects your personality later in life. Not proof of astrology, but maybe suggests that they were onto something and interpreted it incorrectly and filled it in with a lot of BS.

The reason Koreans believing in blood typing is so dumb is because it was once used by the Axis powers to justify genocide and enslavement of the "lesser" races, presumably including the Koreans themselves.

I found this on the Official Site of Korea Tourism Organization:

Quote:
"What's your blood type?"
When you first meet someone in Korea, you will often be asked this question. Unlike the West, Koreans are place great importance on a person's blood type. In fact there are even many movies about this subject. There is a lot of interesting data about blood type, and some of the most popular beliefs are listed below. Why not check it out? Its a fun way to find out more about your boyfriend or girlfriend, or even yourself!

Are you also going to call crazies on every person who thinks a black cat crossing the road is bad luck, avoids walking under ladders, tells people not to whistle indoors or leave money bills on the table, etc?

It's a silly superstition, no doubt about that - but there are very few, if any, who actually take it seriously. They might mention it in passing, or say something like "I broke up with my boyfriend cus of his crazy A-type blood", but they don't mean it any more than the guy who loses his wallet then blames it on having woken up on the wrong side of the bed.

Can't believe how serious some posters are about criticizing something like this, lol. You must be a real treat to deal with in real life Very Happy

From my experience, every woman (and many men) I've met believed in it. Very few make it a real big deal out of it or consider it a major factor in life though.

There is? I guess its just my luck I don't have the athletic pigmentation.

I thought the blood-type thing was made popular in the 60s and 70s Hippie movement, not the Nazi's.... smh
