It appears that HWP is completely and utterly incompatible with Windows 8. All installs, viewers, etc., from any year, seem unable to install or to be used properly.

Anyone else have any luck?

Seems that I have answered my own question.

http://pustech.hosting.paran.com/xe/214

HWP 2007's viewer is the ONLY one which works. The newer 2010SE does not, nor does 2002. The 2002 one will install, but won't work properly.

So for search/posterity sake:

.hwp viewer for Windows 8 is the above 2007 viewer link.

how can i view .hwp documents in windows 8

Good to know. The newer version is completely incompatible.

I simply tell my students that I don't accept files with an .hwp attachment. I can't be bothered with the software. After install, there are far too many default settings that need to be tweaked to make it functional. For example, it will often auto-correct English to Korean.

I often deal with things not related to students that require it.
