Those who need that Chicago-style deep dish pizza can get it at Uno on the 5th floor. That restaurant has been open for over a year. And, now, there's a new California Pizza Kitchen on the 6th floor.
We have had that deep dish pizza and it's the real deal. If you've never had the chance to try deep dish pizza you should try Uno.

It's good. We had the "Chicago Classic" and it was very good. The one in the video is "Prima Pepperoni" and it's also very good. One tip about deep dish pizza and that is don't get too many toppings. Keep things simple and enjoy that great crust withy the sauce and cheese. |

I went to UNO's in COEX once, and I'll never go to an UNO's again. The pizza was good, but even if it were great (it wasn't), 30,000 won for a pizza is too much.  |

UNO is expensive, but I would say that it's the best pizza in Korea -- way better than Pizza Hut or any other similar delivery chain -- and one of the best I've had, period. For the me, totally worth the price. |

Good recommendations. Much better than the places food bloggers often recommend for pizza....usually some grossly overpriced dump in Sinsa-dong or something like that. Most people just want a nice, solid, US-style pizza and not some artistic Korean interpretation. |

Thanks, and I also like the fact that Yongsan Station is relatively convenient for most people in the Seoul area. That makes it much easier to find than some place on the third floor of a building across from that adjoshi bar down the alley just past the dumpster past the Dunkin Donuts and Paris Bagette just after the bus stop past the taxi stand around the corner from the skincare and makeup shop. You know the place, right? |

Chicago Style pizza, at least a proper quality one, usually costs significantly more than regular pizza, close to 2X as much back home- This is reflected in the significant increase in ingredients as well as the increased baking time (3X a normal pizza) which makes it difficult to be commercially viable for small scale pizzerias.
The thing is, a proper Chicago style pizza should fill an average person with 1-2 slices.
I've never had Pizzeria Uno.

This is sound advice for pizza in general. 2 topping pizzas are really good, 3 are okay if you get the right combination, and you should never have more than a single kind of meat on the pizza. There are the occasional 5 topping specialty pizzas that taste fine, the problem is that many pizzas, both here and back home, don't reduce the amount of toppings on the pizza as the number of toppings increases.
Really, the volume of toppings should never exceed 1-2 toppings worth. |

No, Steelrails is right.
I worked at a small pizzeria in Chicago all throughout uni and ate more pizza than most, and it's true that you don't want to overload a pizza with toppings, if taste is your primary concern, because there's no way to truly enjoy them all. Shovelling too many toppings in too large of quantities is a complete waste.
Having too many toppings on a pizza is the equivalent of mixing all the kinds of soda at a fountain machine. The results might turn out ok, and sometimes you'll get hints of one flavour or another, but chances are it's just going to be a muddled mess.
Also, Chicago deep dish pizzas are much more expensive; a one topping small from Giordano's is $17 US or about 20,000 won, but even that should be able to feed 2 people easily. I should know, I just returned from Chicago this past Sunday and brought back a frozen one for me and my lady friend. |
