Was just talking about one of the shows with a buddy, that 'as one' show. Those girls have to be the most annoying hosts I've ever tried to avoid hearing. Don't know what they're paid, but it's too much. Nails across the chalkboard!

I had an offer with them a few years back.

It was ridiculous. Something around 40k an hour for broadcast time - not counting research time. When I explained to them ALL of the additional hours that'd go into it, they offered 50(or so) per hour... but I wouldn't be paid the extra 10 until the following budget - they'd owe me. Rolling Eyes

Walked out of there mighty fast.

My guess is somewhere in the upper 3M a month. I know quite a few of them, but never talk money. None of my business. I did a 20 minute segment there a few years back and got 70,000 per show. Each show took maybe an hour to prepare. I also worked at EBS FM and got 100,000 per 20 minute show. That one took more time to prepare though.

Great point. Sure, over the years I've done work at a lot of the bigger stations. When I was a LOT younger and that kind of coin actually looked good, I went for it just to get some exposure. If you do work for any broadcaster, you'll soon find that the pay blows, yet they seem to think they own you. Not worth it unless you're addicted to the pseudo fame potential. And I do mean potential because most people here honestly could give a flying crap about radio. Well, aside from the ego bloated PDs LOL!

I tried to use Google, but I couldn't figure it out. Is it a swear word or something? Will posting it violate the site's terms of service?

PD is an abbreviation for producer, but it's not one that's commonly spoken or used in western countries. Like the abbreviation for membership training "MT". It may be used on forms and written down sometimes beside someone's name, but Koreans use things like PD and MT in spoken and written language in a way we wouldn't

I'm pretty sure I saw Steve Hatherly of the Steve Hatherly show driving around Seoul one day in a new BMW.

So they must make pretty big coin.

The female equivalent of douchebags. Their hiphop guest who tries so hard to talk "hood" is also equally annoying.

I know/have known several of them personally(used to date one)

It depends on what you're doing. If you're reading traffic or something, you actually make like 1.5 mill or so, but the effort you put into it is super short.

If you're an anchor for a show you can make quite a bit, like 4 mill or so.

Some of the hosts have more fun than others depending on the show.

The are some truly mind numbing guys on there.

Except for Steve H, mentioned above, who seems intelligent and has a good voice, I agree. Incredibly annoying.
And it seems they let the foreign help play whatever "deep cuts" they want from their personal, arcane fav albums. I've never heard a song I knew, let alone a song I liked, on that station. Then again, I never stay for long...
