Hello world. Does anyone know where the best place to purchase paint by the gallon is? I also need to buy rollers, brushes and all the other equiptment one would need for painting. Where is a home depot when you need one.

Thanks for that really detailed helpful comment. I have been to the only shop in my neighborhood and while I could buy black or white paint other colors were limited and they wouldn't mix any colors.

Well, without knowing your neighborhood that is the best I could do. Sorry. What did they say when you asked about the nearest place that could mix the colors you wanted?

They didn't have a suggestion for me. I am willing to travel. I was assuming that like most things in Korea ie Jewelry, lamps, baking good, and even doors, that there is a district that I could go to where all of the painting supplies I need are sold in one area.

Quick Google search gives me this place. If you're in Seoul and looking for something bigger than a mom and pop place.

Euljiro 4(sa)-ga

Tons of stuff here. I bought a gallon of mildew proof paint there. They should be able to mix just about anything you want.

My experience with paint stores is that the color offering is very limited and they charge for mixing paint. One store wanted to charge me the same price for what they were selling a gallon for. No, I did not take the offer.

Depending on the brand and color you want, that would happen anywhere.

There are generally 4 or 5 bases (in 4 or 5 different finishes (flat, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, glossy, etc). Get a flat white and it's pretty cheap. Get a glossy black and it's very pricey. ANYWHERE you go, you're going to get mixed paint, unless you're buying a small can of premixed stuff, which would generally be standard colors - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, etc.

Long story short, all those cans of paint you see in a hardware store have no color to them until they are mixed and the different bases, sheens, and mixes have different prices.
