How can I be a troll? i am not inciting anyone, i am defending my position and I do not do anything that is normally associated with trolls. I think you are just biased and hate to follow what is right in order to do your own thing.

Do you even know what a troll is? I wouldn't be surprised, since you've been stumbling over vocabulary in each thread you post on.
You're a troll because through a series of different monikers, you repeatedly make outlandish, provocative statements on public forums that elicit emotional responses.

You are not interested in joining discussions for honest, intelligent debate. Rather, you insist on preaching from a poorly thought out position, and resort to cowardly childish behavior when challenged.

It's been a real pleasure reading your escapades, but sad that you are prostituting the word of your god in order to give yourself an edge over the rest of the flock.

One final question, which I'm sure will also go unanswered:
If you despise westerners so much and covet Korean culture so much, why not apply for citizenship? You can speak Korean, can't you? Why not distance yourself from all of us heathens, and be free of everything we have ruined for you.

Think about it. I think I can speak for everyone here when I say we really don't want to be associated with you either.

True, I agree with you there. But some of the bad press Korea receives
is due to the kind of advertising they do and thus the quality of people
they get. You should be canvasing recruiters and asking them to change
the kind of advertising they do.

I will concede that you have a point but I think it is difficult for the Korean government and recruiters to change their advertising given the fact that many people in the west do not want to come to this country to teach. (for whatever reason they have)

Salaries being the main one. Why would someone who earns a decent salary teaching in his own country want to move to Korea and work for
less?

They have little choice plus what about all those teachers here, and there are a few, who did not find out that they could teach until they began teaching in a hagwon or public school here? They did not take education for their degree or pursue a teaching diploma yet they can teach and teach well.
Public schools can't afford qualified teachers? Say it ain't so!
I don't believe this for a second. Hagwons maybe.
There is always a choice. The choice could be to do what Japan is doing,
having recruitment campaigns in Toronto and LA and having potential
candidates go through a lot of tests (which would include sample lessons)
this way a lot of the bad apples would get sorted out.

I don't agree with what the guy did any more than you do, but who hired him?

This one is a tough call because a lot of the time it is a lottery and the employers do not know what they are really getting until they get here. Then there are those westerners who put on a good face during the interview then change once they get a contract.

Again, see above.

I remember when my first high school replaced me. The westerner they hired told them exactly what they wanted to hear then throughout the year acted in the most bizarre fashion. They ended up firing him before the contract was up because he was so bad.

I know of a lot of hagwons who did the same, beautiful school, great location, wonderful kids paid vacation and then when the teacher comes
he finds nothing like what was described.

Or another high school where a Korean friend of mine asked me to train their first westerner. He did the same thing. He acted like he was good, said the right words but when push came to shove he didn't live up to what he said. He got into fights and disappeared for a week to Thailand for a vacation without telling the school.

And I worked for a hagwon that shorted my pay on a regular basis, when asked for the rest of my money the boss would always have ready excuses but never the money he owed.

Their middle school had a guy who would walk out of class and lie down on the couch in the teachers room and go to sleep during school hours.

Did anyone talk to the guy and ask him why he was doing that? I guess

not. I suppose he was having trouble with classroom control and since
nobody was helping, he gave up. (but that is just a guess on my part)

How can you filter such people out when they do not give any indication they will do those things?

Well one way would be to hire experienced teachers like those in the Job
discussion forum. They are already in Korea, have experience teaching,
know what they are getting into and have done it many times before. They also know what the salary is and in many cases are willing to work
for the same wage as a newbie, Plus you don't have to fly them over.

Here I think finances play a role. You cannot pay someone what you do not have and sadly, many experienced teachers require a higher salary than newbies require.

Then don't complain at what you get. You can expect many more like this guy :

lol. you are inciting EVERYONE. take off those blinders champ.

you "think" i am biased? if you ever read any of my posts you might know i'm extremely biased. i am biased towards comprehensive and cognizant thought.
i "hate to follow what is right"? what exactly is right, friend? trying to make children dumber and more sanctimonious by telling them that a sky diety created every organism the way they are right now is most certainly not right. but in general, that's a hard question to answer don't you think? as for doing my own thing, i always do my own thing.

so tl:dr, you were wrong on every single point of your defense.

Yes, that will be what he says in his next imaginary conversation in the Times.

Actually I have opposes Shertzer on occassions.

I have stated my point of view and you are free to disagree but remember free speech allows me to present it just like you are free to present yours. I am also free to disagree with your points of view.

I think it is time to move on to another topic as nothing is going to be gained by continuing in this thread.

Are you applying your western values here? In Korea, there are broad restrictions to free speech.

Friend, he has no freakin' clue what his points are.

And now he's blathering about free speech on a private message board. That's hilarious. The right to free speech is a protection from government action.

Not worried about it. I am sorry that so many others have crowded out any sensible discussion.

Why was that guy spying on another man drying his pubic hair?? I said this before, if this guy (or any westerner) can't be content with a little, how can he expect to be content with a lot?

I do not complain about what I get I complain about guys like the one in the video. He just complained that koreans do not speak English in their own land? Unbelievable.

It makes me think that people who see the Korean ads do not take the time to figure out what teaching is all about or what a different culture is.

What's unbelievable is that this Theisson/kinship character can't relieve himself of his own bullshit. I'm tired of the Korean uncle Tom bs on here. Speaking of which, Patrick is unfortunately back, apparently. Their point of view is skewed because they make money from the lies they create and the garbage they promote.
