They've been hacked or aren't doing so well in the recruiting field anymore I'd say.

Quote:
Hello,
I'm writing this with tears in my eye, my family and I came down to SWANSEA, (WALES, UNITED KINGDOM) for a short vacation and got mugged at the park of the hotel where we stayed, all our cash, credit card and cell were stolen off us at GUN POINT but luckily for us we still have our passports with us but don't have enough money to sort the bills so we can get out of here.

We've been to the embassy and the cops but they're not helping issues at all and our round flight leaves soon and the hotel manager won't let us leave until we settle the bills, I'm freaked out at the moment and wondering if you could help us with a quick loan, I promise I'll refund it once we get home. Please write me so i can send you the info for the wire of the money to save me from the embarrassment of not being able to cover the bills. Am really sorry for the odd request

Hope to read back from you soonest

It's an odd type of spam email. They are using the recruiting agency title just to break through your spam filter.

I received a similar type of e-mail from a guy who offered me a job at a university in Ordos, China two or three years ago, except he said he got robbed in Madrid, Spain. It made me glad I didn't accept that job. I almost did.

Common hackjob scam. I receive variations on this three or four times a year from contacts I've had email correspondence with. It did not originate from Morning Calm. Ignore, delete.

I also once receive an email like this from an acquaintance, he claimed this had happened in Jakarta, I think.

I got one of these too...a few different facts, but basically, "send me money". It came from a co-worker so I knew the account had been hacked.

I also got a similar one via PM through FB. I knew it was fake, so I kept stringing the guy along...then I said that I'd given the info from his account to the local police and they would follow up on it and he was BUSTED!!! LOL! I had fun spamming the spammer! Smile

I like how it's so personalised that they don't even mention there name.

Someone may fall for the scam if it was a friend or relative and finished up with,

"Thanks,

Bob"

But, to finish up with:

"Recruiting Manager."

Is just tacky.

In all my years living in Swansea I don't recall ever having heard of guns being used. Muggings aren't exactly common either. In Newport however...

When I was involved with morning calm they always said "recruiting manager".

So it sounds authentic.
