|
|
This is a issue that needs to be addressed.
A good fellow Zackback posted this at a different thread not too long ago. Why sending heavy duty industrial or military equipment if some US delegates only wants to talk about the missing remains of US soldiers? This is despite there's a strong trade sanction going on against North Korea?
All we know is that the US officials were very offended that these incidents got exposed thanks to several Japanese aircraft fans.
Like Zackback wrote, I smell a conspiracy.

Senior U.S. administration officials held secret talks in North Korea on at least three occasions in 2011 and 2012, The Asahi Shimbun has learned.
Although the visits had potential implications for Japan, Washington did not inform its security partner at the time and only informally confirmed one of them when the Japanese side pressed, government and other sources in Japan, South Korea and the United States said.
The U.S. State Department even warned the Foreign Ministry against making further inquiries, saying they would harm bilateral relations, the sources said.
U.S. military planes flew from an air base in Guam to Pyongyang and back on April 7, 2012, and again on a longer visit lasting from Aug. 18-20, the sources said.
It is believed that those aboard included Sydney Seiler, director for Korea at the U.S. National Security Council, and Joseph DeTrani, who headed the North Korea desk at the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence. DeTrani left the post in May.
They met with North Korean officials and discussed policies following the death of leader Kim Jong Il in December 2011.
The North Korean delegation included Jang Song Thaek, vice chairman of the National Defense Commission and husband of Kim Jong Il's sister. Jang is widely considered to serve as a mentor for Kim Jong Un, who succeeded his father as his nation's leader.
The Japanese government only learned about the flights after receiving reports from hobbyists monitoring activity at military bases and also analyzing air traffic flight plans.
When the Japanese side submitted an official inquiry, U.S. officials expressed frustration that the request had been made, citing the subject's confidential nature. The State Department warned Japan against inquiring further, saying Washington-Tokyo ties could be damaged.
The third visit that The Asahi Shimbun has confirmed is one that took place in November 2011. Sources said at least one military aircraft from the Guam air base loaded heavy equipment, including bulldozers, at Yokota Air Base in western Tokyo and flew to Pyongyang.
It is believed that the delegation included officials from the U.S. Pacific Command. They met with North Korean officials and discussed efforts to recover the remains of U.S. soldiers killed during the 1950-53 Korean War, the sources said.
When Japan inquired about this visit, U.S. officials unofficially confirmed that it had taken place, the sources said.

Every warmonger knows that you need to finance both sides of a conflict in order to maximize profits. I would be disappointed if the U.S. wasn't selling arms to the North. |

Not to mention this.
Halliburton Charged with Selling Nuclear Technology to Iran

The US military industrial complex is the biggest benefactor of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Sigh. A great Christian country shouldn't arm extremist Muslim countries. Thanks a lot, Marxism, you are destroying the world without the help of nuclear weapons. |

Dont say anything about military equipment in the article.
Where is the conspiracy?
The US sends bulldozers to N.Korea to unearth remains of fallen US soldiers: perfectly logical.
The US kinds wants to keep the fact that their having anything at all to do with the Norks hush-hush: perfectly logical. Just means that the US puts a higher priority on finding their dead soldiers than anything else.
Again I say....where is the conspiracy??

How can a country that sanctions against North Korea just send some heavy duty equipment without the approval of the Congress? Any secret deal will harm North Korea. It should be public in the first place. Remember the South Korean logic: Any collaboration with North Korea is a HUGE problem. They should have used a neutral country to do it in the first place.
It's not a bad thing. As long as North Korea is making an angry face, the US government can sell weapons to South Korea and Japan continuously.
North Korea is promoting America's influence.
(I made a pro-American comment. I hope falco loves it.) |

South Korea has also, many times, sent equipment to North Korea.
You really are scraping the bottom of the barrel here. You ADDING IN that bit about military equipment shows how pathetic this thread is. |

Well, I assumed when I wrote the earlier posts that the equipment being sent into NK would also be accompanied by US personnel to operate it too. The said equipment etc would then probably be brought back home after the operation. If the bulldozers etc were being given to the Norks, then I could see there being a problem. Problem is the article doesnt really go into great detail other than to state the flight(s) took place and that bulldozers were on board.
You really are assuming a hell of a lot here Nohoper.

FYI if you knew me on a personal level, you would know that I'm far, very very far, from being pro-American. |

It's no laughing matter. A new model bulldozer is higher tech than North Korea's antiquated tanks. |

You should know better. I am pathetic and I really love you even though I haven't seen your picture.

Assumption itself is diplomacy and politics. This is politics/diplomacy. Everybody assumes and then make snarky remarks. It's like you're assuming me that I'm a very evil person or a very clever internet troll. I ain't complaining. I instead embrace how you criticize me in a very nice way. |
