Hi,

Looking at a job in Yesan. Have a few questions:

1. Is there a Homeplus or Emart or Lotte Mart or decent sized supermarket like that?

2. Is there a movie theatre?

3. Are there any non-Korean restaurants, specifically Indian, Mexican, Italian?

4. What's Yesan like to look at? Is it ugly or pretty? Any character?

5. Many foreigners?

6. What's there to do there?

7. Any decent bars?

Thanks for any info that you can provide. Would be much appreciated.

No, nearest one is about 30 minutes away, there is a small supermarket

2. Is there a movie theatre?
No, nearest one is about 30 minutes by train

3. Are there any non-Korean restaurants, specifically Indian, Mexican, Italian?
There is an Italian but not amazing

4. What's Yesan like to look at? Is it ugly or pretty? Any character?
It's a farmers town, pretty ugly

5. Many foreigners?
About 20, nearly all the public school teachers live in 2 buildings

6. What's there to do there?
Not much, most people head into Seoul a lot

7. Any decent bars?
There are a couple of bars where the foreigners hang out, quite tame, not really wild nights out

I drove my car through Yesan a couple of weeks ago on the way to my wife's grandparents...

Above poster is right about it being a farmers town... Didn't seem like there was much to do and Things seemed to be pretty scattered wide and far apart... I would imagine you would need a car to comfortably get around...

Once you figure out how to get to the #1 Seoul Subway line from your new place you'll be able to reach Cheonan Station which opens up Korea to you via the KTX lines and the #1 subway line to points north like: Pyeongtaek, Songtan, Suwon, Anyang, and, of course, Seoul.
