Hello. I brought my Verizon iPhone 5 (A1429) to Korea. I signed up with KT and everything except the LTE works. I went to a store and asked about it and they fussed around and played on their computer for a while until they told me they didn't know. Is this just the way it has to be? Or should it be working as it did in the US?

That's the way it is. The Verizon model is different from the one SK and KT use (CDMA LTE vs. GSM LTE).

Your model should work on LTE with KT, the A1429 model is the only one that will work.
You could try call the helpline (1583) and ask them if they can help.

You don't need anything, call your provider and have data roaming activated if you're going to be using data. SK has better data roaming deals than KT but it shouldn't be more than 10,000/day. Download the Bobseld app and you can make local calls on the data network or wifi for free while you're there. I use Android but I'm sure ios has that app too.

Just make sure that it's unlocked. iPhone 3Gs and 4 were locked but you could request an unlock for free; 4s might have come unlocked.

Then go to T-Mobile and pay $2/day for unlimited everything. You'll be on the slower (EDGE) data speeds but well worth it for the price.
