I'm interested to see that some recruiters have inaccurate information on their websites and in their ads. What part of the E-2 visa changes by Immigration a few years back DON'T THEY UNDERSTAND?
Example 1) Recruiting firm Teach Me English are stating mistakenly that applicants for an E-2 visa 'need' to submit
The ORIGINAL diploma. Nope, why are you saying this? You call yourself a recruiting company and you give false info to applicants?
The whole apostille biz (you do have it correct that the applicant needs an apostille on their criminal record check) was brought in by Immigration so applicants DON'T need to submit original degree certificates. Why are you giving wrong information?
Example 2) Sealed transcripts. With the possible exception of Canadians, no E-2 visa applicants are required by Immigration to submit transcripts, sealed or otherwise. Some employers like unis can ask for them but they ARE NOT am Immigration requirement.
Get your facts correct, recruiters. Stop making out that original degrees are now needed because that was stopped a few yrs back - that's why the apostille on the certified copy was brought in. How hard is that to understand?
Stop demanding transcripts. If a potential employer wants them, tell the applicant, don't keep repeating false information. Immigration does not need transcripts.
Any other misleading recruiters you know of?[/quote] |

Yea, I have noticed this. You would think recruiters would be on top of things. As it is there field.
I think the wrong info is sometimes outdated. Recruiter throws up a web site. Minimal updating is done. So things languish. People looking for info get confused or the wrong details.
One aspect with recruiters is they often just go the basic general way. So they will ask for what is needed for MOST people. Rarely will they give alternatives or shirt cuts. For example a teacher in Korea with a D-10 or will do a transfer has completely different requirements versus a newbie back in home country. Yet some recruiters will ask for paperwork even when it is not always needed.
Sometimes I thinks what happens is a weird form of the telephone game. Recruiter one tells another recruiter under them. They then think that is the way it is done. Or what once worked continues to work, then until it does not. Who knew, things change! So over time and info and techniques told person to person the info gets morphed.
Hmm what info have I spotted recently.
Canada and CRCs. For Canadians provincial and city checks are fine as long as they re check against the CPIC database. If they are properly verified by the Korean consulate.
A variation of this is they say the name check is not fine, IT MUST be the fingerprint check! (I think!)
A reason for this, I think recruiters like most people hate more work. So if they can get someone possible receuitee to do things the best/proper way they will go with that. Shortcuts and alternatives can muck up things and cost them money. |
