연예의목적 everyday teachers/lovers. nice change from the overly sappy romances
과속스캔들 past his prime celeb deals with kids he didn't know he had. comedy

Maybe not exactly what you're looking for but I enjoyed them both.

Thanks for the ideas, but I couldn't locate them from the Hangul. Do you have their English names?
Thanks

Oh, I also enjoyed the movie Housemaid.

깃 (Feathers In The Wind)

여자, 정헤 (This Charming Girl)- Artsy fartsy movies. Both are REALLY good. But some people may find them dull.

다섯은 너무 많아 (Five is Too Many)- Offbeat movie featuring the lower social strata.

멋진 하루 (My Dear Enemy)- A 'roadtrip' through Seoul that features two ex-lovers as they visit various social levels.

싱글즈 (Singles) - Rom Com that isn't cutesy like the others.

Nappun Namja is so real it could almost be a documentary, lol.

Jokes aside it's not a bad movie. Pretty good tale of some of the "public secrets" that abound in Korea.

당신이 외국 스터드 내 여자를 먹고

A timeless classic, this movie tells the story about a young innocent Korean university student who discovers her 'womanhood' after falling for the cute new English teacher in town, who just happens to also be Black.

고양이를 부탁해 Take Care of My Cat

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Take_Care_of_My_Cat

Bit of a chick flick, but it gives a real glimpse of reality. [Unlike Korean dramas where everyone is rich, and often traveling to the USA on business.]

Wow. Now the trick is going to be finding these. I actually found a few on Amazon instant viewing. There are a bunch that are even free with an Amazon Prime membership.

*facepalm*

I don't know about everyday life stuff because that "The Wrestler" style of flick (which particularly struck me as such a film) isn't really all that popular, even when good, and practically everything is gangsters and romantic comedies. So I'll just list the English titles for a couple that are good and kind of more human.

Oasis
You Are My Sunshine
Miracle of (a) Giving Fool

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

If you enjoyed Housemaid, the lead actress (Jeon Dohyeon?) has done some other stuff that's probably worth a watch.

theres an internet site i bookmarked, it has loads of old korean movies from the 40's onwards. they give a more realistic view of life in korea than most of the modern movies ive seen. The site uses english subtitles too.

Poetry is fairly realistic. Acting is naturalistic rather than the over the top style you get in many Korean films.

The one with the two guys drinking makoli and sharing their stories is good but I can't remember the title. Maybe someone else can.
