Hi,
I will be going to the Gangnam area to stay next week.
I will stay near Sinnonhyeon station.
Where is the nearest Homeplus?
Also, what is Emart Everyday? Is that a smaller version of the store?
Thanks. |

I've got an 'emart everyday' near me in Jinju. It's a smaller less well defined version of the other ones. Seems to be a franchise if you ask me. |

E'Mart Everydays are smaller versions of the big stores. Lotte Mart and Homeplus also have their own versions (Homeplus Express is for Homeplus but I don't remember the Lotte one's name). They are basically just the grocery side of the stores. They won't have clothes, sports equipment, toys, etc. that the big stores carry.
These stores are the main reason why the mom and pop stores fought for the closing of the big marts every other week. Well that is who they are blaming anyways.
I know there is a Homeplus in Jamsil near LotteWorld. |

How is the beer selection at Lotte Mart?
At Emart it is pretty good.
I am mostly looking for imported beer from Canada, Europe, Australia or New Zealand. |

Lotte Mart has the best customer service. Emart has some of the surliest people I have ever seen working for them. Home Plus is somewhere in the middle. |

How is Homeplus?
Is it like Tesco, with lots of British products?
I found one near Jamsil station, but I wondered if there were more stores in Seoul. |

I've seen Newcastle Brown and Carling at least. There's probably a few more.
Not sure about cheese though. |

Ok, thanks.
I will go at some point.
I thought E-Mart had a decent selection of beer, and wondered about Homeplus. |

A homeplus just opened near me at Hapjeong station. The cheese selection is dismal compared to eMart. Also the eMart near me has all the foreign foods in one aisle, while homeplus has them scattered throughout the aisles. |

Homeplus has the best selection of beer I've ever seen in Korea. I'm a big fan of IPAs, and Homeplus has a lot of them from the US and the UK. If you're looking for a less expensive but also great IPA, try 7Brau; the only Korean beer worth drinking, in my opinion. |

Homeplus has a decent selection of Tesco products, including almost every British breakfast cereal. They do have Fruit Loops, too.
Meanwhile, E-mart has very good pizza, including Chicago Style Deep Dish for 15,000. It's not authentic but good, for the price, and at least they're trying. These are the kinds of moves we should all support. Oh, and I've seen the 6 packs of frozen Super pretzels at E-mart for 4,200. Nuke those babies and add some mustard or dipping cheese and you'll feel much better after a long day. |

Thanks for the info.
I can understand looking for some variety in food.
Hapjeong is a convenient location.
I saw that Homeplus is out by the World Cup Station, but that is a little far. |

You seem to live for junk food. Not knocking it, mind you, just kind of awed by it.
The new scones at Costco are pretty good. I haven't tried the mini apple turnovers. |
