Going back down to the dining room that night, we got in the small lift made of glass. However, when you got in, the lift fell about 2" and there was a large gap between the lift and the hotel floor, as well as cracked glass panes on the way down.
Dinner that day was adequate, it provided my body with energy but it definitely wasn't fine dining; however, there was a large selection (all mostly warm) and some vegetarian options.
When dinner was finished we made our way back to the lifts and waited with a large group to get in the lift. Around 20 people from a Russian group squeezed into the lift, the doors shuddered shut and slowly started rising. When it reached the 5th floor, you heard a whooshing noise and the floor numbers flashing down back to 0, where the doors shuddered open and the group inside looked white as a sheet as the lift had just fallen from the 5th floor. I climbed up 64 flights of stairs that night in the dark (yep, no emergency lighting, but hey, it's North Korea).
The bathroom in the hotel kept flooding, but the shower was nice and hot.
Some people on our tour had bugs in their rooms, but we didn't. The TV showed one channel, mainly propaganda and the alarm thing between the beds didn't work (no great surprise). |
