I have not been asked for proof of ongoing travel when I came in to korea on the high speed ferry at BUsan. Like others have said, immigration doesn't ask for this, it's the carrier as I believe they may be responsible to remove you if you are denied admission to Korea

Immigration most definitely asked me when I came back without a visa. Also I was not initially allowed on my flight leaving Korea because I didn't have an outgoing ticket out of Indonesia. I had to buy an outgoing ticket over the internet at the airport. That little incident caused me a lot of problems later on in the day.

Korean Airlines gives you this bull about how they might be fined. Every other airline makes you do nothing more than sign a waiver before you board the plane.

What BS!!!!!!!!!!!!

greetings. I recently gave notice and am hoping for the best of things with current employer as we part ways but I'd also like to be prepared for the worst. If, for whatever reason, I fail to get an LOR, is it possible to leave the country and return on tourist visa and begin again from there? has anyone done this before? Is there a time restriction on leaving and returning to the country or could this be done in say... 24 hours? also, tourist visas can be issued at Incheon International, yeah? thanks.

Midnight run means disappearing the day after payday never to be seen or heard from again.

Under current policy, IF you secure a LOR you can transfer to a new employer or get a D10.

If you do not secure a LOR and/or have a valid complaint on file at the labor office then you will not be allowed to transfer to a new employer or change your status to D10.

Unlike (recent) times past when exiting would clear your status and allow you to begin again immigration has reverted to an older policy of not allowing a new visa application until your previous period of sojourn has expired.

A quick exit and return on and entry stamp is NOT a visa.
ICN does not issue visas. They place a 30/90/180 day allowed entry into your passport - visa waived due to bilateral treaties with our countries of origin.

.

Thanks Ttompatz for clarifying midnight run. I got excited at the post title and was disappointed to hear the mundane story. Noob misusing the jargon really got my hopes up... Sad

Never once been asked for proof of onward travel in my life. Sometimes I have it so naturally they don't ask and other times I didn't and they didn't ask.
