Hi, folks.

Do most Korean bank branches have coin counting machines? I have three years of Korean coins that I want to turn into paper money.

Advice or helpful suggestions?

Most banks do have those machines. Even if they dont they will count it manually.
Its best to go to a bank where you have an account. You dont need to wait at all just leave your coins there and show your bank booklet. They will count it and deposit onto your account on the same day.

Save yourself some time and seperate the coins by value. The ones at my bank at least dont seem to be designed to funtion well with mixing coins. There is a button to push to select which coin you want rolled up (500won for example) while all the others get dumped back to the bucket, often times jamming up the machine.

Yeah we had to separate ours before we took them to the bank. Also our local bank only did coin separating on a certain day of the week, so you might want to check.

I had a friend who had so many coins that they told him he had broken the machine and would have to come back the next day to finish.

I think they decided they had more important things to do than count coins all day.

Make sure you go in once beforehand because they often have specific times and days to do it, i.e. monday isn't good, nor is between 12-2...
