SMOPER Chicken, with a picture of a smurf on the sign, is a good one.

This thread does make me wonder though, why is there so much of this stuff? Why do they seem to get so much wrong and put so much goofy "language" on things? My guess: They think, "Who cares? It's just a decoration."

At the movie theater today there was a sign above the concession stand that read: "Pet Beverage". Apparently it's just a very large sized drink.

"Pet Beverage"?

Dude, from what i understand, this is NOT Konglish, but rather simply lousy yet hilarious English.

Examples of Konglish are things like OPPICE-TEL, hand phone, eye-shopping & ... awwww hell, just follow the link ... Wink http://www.macmillandictionary.com/MED-Magazine/March2003/05-Korean-English.htm#1

I guess any goofy or meaningless use of language can be included in this thread, not just strictly "Konglish"?

hmm, got another one. I've been hearing people say "salad" to refer to anything leafy, green and edible lately.

Isn't that just L1 transfer? Is there only one word in Korean? Same thing with Spanish speakers.

Again, we need to define "Konglish."

I saw a 3 year old kid wearing a t-shirt advertising the ram-packed drink fueled madness of club day in Namdaemun a while ago.

Shocked

Ha, I saw that same underwear sign at the Coex mall just five days ago. I tried to explain the hilarity of it to my Korean friends with me, but alas, their English was not good enough to pick up on the humorous subtlety...

Great thread - I hope this thing stays on the front page for years; there is definitely enough bad english to keep it there for decades!

On a bus I saw an advertisement for a pastor and maybe his books or his church, I don't know. It was almost all in Korean and had pictures of green fields, blue skies, and this guy in a suit with his hands raised to the sky. The only English was "The Load Gave Me a Message"
