Is Anseong that tiny little place between Pyeongtaek and Cheonan?

I'm not sure. I can't find it in the L.P. and there aren't many decent results when I do a net search, I hope its not a hole.

It is not so up and coming community south of Seoul and East of Pyongteak. If I remember correctly, a large university from Seoul has a branch campus there too. It is classified as a city, but it really is a large town. A lot of industry with large space demands locate here, and with an expressway running through the district, this expressway provides the logistics to these companies that come looking a campus like setting for their plants. With an increase in industry comes people working and living nearby. There are many new housing complexes, and other service job related areas too. I would say it is a good choice, but not a hip choice, for you are quite out of the way in Gyonggi Do in the countryside, but on the other hand, only about one and a half hours by bus from Seoul. That is my take.

I'd venture to say that if you want to stay outta Seoul, but have it at your fingertips on the weekends, it'd be fine. But if you need your cheese, wine, spaghetti sauce, so on, you might get ticked about that.
I was riding a motorbike out that-a-way one night, and while I never reached the place, I knew I was out in the middle of nowhere.
If this is what ya want, go for it. Also, weatherman is probably more familiar with it than I am. I just see the name regularly. |

You are in a great little city. You are a short bus trip away from Osan Shopping and all the western restaurants you could want. I have lived in Pyeongtaek for almost 2 years and love it. Its got everything you like, ot I like about Seoul, without having to go there....good luck!

ummm, i live near anseong city and its ok. anseong-SI is a district of gyeonggi-do so be careful where the school is or where your are being asked to live as the area itself covers alot of farmland, significant numbers of factory sites and alot of mountains.
the town, (anseong is not a city), is pretty small with one main street on it. there are your usual collection of hofs and restaurants but there are no western restaurants (oops! there is a lotteria...). there is a 2 screen cinema, 1 of each: dvd bang, ps2 bang, nightclub (RIB-ER-SIDE-UH) and horse race betting room. las vegas it isn't...
there are few westerners around. most of the foreigners appear to be from south asia and i imagine they work in the numerous factories in the area.
life is quiet here, but you are only an hour on the express bus to seoul, central suwon or incheon should you wish to get away. pyeongtaek is the closest main town, but thats hardly much bigger.
thats my impression, and of course its up to you on how you view life here (e.g. is it a good thing that there are no western restaurants?)
good luck, pm me if you need more info
