What are your experiences? Anyone just landed in Busan for a couple of weeks and tried to find a job yourself?

I am planning a short three week trip to South Korea, landing in Busan mid-May, and spending two/three weeks trying to secure a job that will start mid-August, in case EPIK don't accept me...going to stop in Seoul for a week before returning to the UK.

What do you guys/gals think? Any advice? Where I should look, who I should pursue? Anyone know if there are lists of public schools I can go through?

Ideally I want a public school job, and figure that being there in person for interviews, suited and booted, with all my apostilled documents in hand, might give me an advantage...

So any advice you have would be greatly appreciated...

Also, anyone actually living in Korea overly worried about the tensions at the mo?

I'd look in the cities around Busan. Busan has the worst conditions in EPIK, combined with a highly xenophobic Education Office that makes even Hagwon employees jump through hoops that no other Education Office does.

Having said that, being on the ground is usually better but if you need an E2 and haven't had one before you will need to return to your home country to get it.

Worst conditions in EPIK in what way? Haven't been to Busan that often. So, I don't know the city well. What are some examples of how they are different? I know they are picky about asking for a higher amount of in class TESOL training.

Sorry guys I was basing my assumption off old information. Busan still has the lowest pay but these days all EPIK have to desk warm 9-5 and during the vacations.

Having said that Busan Education office still allows corporal punishment of students and has the most stringent requirements on getting 2 lots of apostiled paperwork one for them and one for immigration.

A group of F visa holders (well me) are looking at taking them to the constitutional court as their requirements for permanent residents are different to the requirements for Korean citizens.
