I'm using Shinhan bank and I'm wondering if anyone else is having the same problem as me. I downloaded that bank certificate thing to a USB stick. I can access my account online just fine with my computer at work or a computer at a PC Bang. However, if I try to access my account online with my home computer or when I'm outside of Korea it is not possible. For some reason, my home computer or the computers I use when traveling abroad, won't recognize the certificate on my USB stick. It won't even pop up at all making it impossible to continue with Korea's wacky login process. Since it only seems to work fine on a 'Korean' computer, I guessing I can only do internet banking with a korean operating system. Does anyone else have this same problem?

In case anyone was wondering, at home, I'm using Windows and Internet Explorer.

I can't help, but it's a good chance to say: Korean internet banking is retarded.

So true. Knowing there is nothing I can do about these problems makes me want to rage. I have like five different passwords just to log on. I even have to use that digital certificate just to do online shopping here.

Why can't they make it like back home? A username and password, that's it.

Retarded? I'll have to agree.

The problem is you're banking with Shinhan. It's well known that they have a great disdain for foreigners, often lying to them about the services they're entitled to.

Switch to KEB and save yourself a lot of headaches.

I am not sure what your problem is, but all my computers run win 7 English, and all can read my wife's and my security certificates from hard drive or USB from KEB, Shinhan, and Hana.

I would first think that you somehow missed an active X plug-in install. If you run Windows XP make sure to always click on the small (beige bar I think) that pops up at the top when visiting Korea banking sites and install EVERYTHING they want you to. Sucks I know, but have to do this just about everytime you visit the page. If you use Win 7, there will be an install bar along the bottom rather than the top.

Hope this helps.
