I'm asking for you to explain the depth of your 'understanding'.
You implied there is no cause for concern. I'm asking you on what level of experience do you base that.
Can you answer the question kindly?

I never said there was no cause for concern. In fact, I've been explaining to jaded veterans, like yourself, why newbies are shaking in their boots over this mess. You seem to be caught up on ranking various crises.
You need to admit that this is a big deal and that newbies are right to be concerned. |

Alright, for those of you over there, can you lay this out for me... I'm currently in the states, planning on a July arrival in Korea (for the second time) and am being BOMBARDED with friends telling me I'm a lunatic and I'm going into a war zone.... they're telling me South Korea is evacuating all non military people.
I'm not really worried, because I know stuff like this has happened before, but seriously, can you all explain this to me from a foreigner's perspective living there? Is it life as normal? I'm planning on returning, but just wish I could shut these people here up... However, all we have here it's what's on CNN and whatnot, so lay it out for me... |

Everything is normal for now. It will stay normal unless something major happens. NK fired on an island and supposedly sank a ship a couple years back and that didn't start anything. IMO, it would take something major for the South to react. If SK were evacuating all non military, there would be total panic and you'd see videos of it. Stop watching the news in the US, they are in the business of selling fear to their viewers. |

| Thank you! This is what I keep telling my friends and family. They think I'm insane. |

Jaded?
You haven't been reading my posts. I said you implied there was no cause not that you stated it directly which is one of the reasons I asked, to clarify. You have made your position clearer, thank you.
I'll restate what I've said in other posts. This is not the most serious situation to have occurred BUT many of the stabilizing factors that have gotten us through past incidents without major escalation are now in doubt or have changed.
Jaded? I have a bag packed, a meeting point decided on, multiple routes and plans depending on how fast things unravel. I'm registered with my Dept of State and know where the evacuation points are. I'm not worried, but I am ready.
