You can't go from a tourist visa to a F-6 (F-2) anymore. I think they changed the rules about two years ago.
You have two options. You have to go home and do it through the consulate there or if you can get an E-2 visa from Korea ( make the visa run to Japan) you can then go from the E-2 to the F-6.
I did the second option about a year and a half ago.
They did tell me that if we had kids they would let me go from the tourist to the F-6.
Good luck.

Hi I have a question about F6, both me and my wife are unemployed. Does the sponsor need to be the spouse? can it be my father in-law?

Or if that isn't possible, can we just borrow 30,000,000 won for a week and show that to the embassy in osaka?

So we won't have any job or tax records, do you think its possible to file for F6 still?

thanks

For the money.. your wife simply needs a certificate from the bank showing at the point it was issued there was that much money there. She can borrow the money for 15 minutes.. Just long enough to get the certificate.
The embassy does not check with the bank to verify the funds are still there.

Just curious what are the rules for money? Is it a strict 30 million won in the bank account rule or is that just for the F5? I had spoken to some folks who said they didn't need to show any proof of money. Is it depending on which office of immigration you're talking to? In other words, they didn't have to have any money at all.

Did you process your F6 visa in Osaka? How long did it take? Did you need to translate any documents in particular? thanks for your response

I did not sorry, but the process is more or less the same as are the requirements, and process.

you can contact the embassy directly to verify with them what they need, but don't worry about them checking up on the bank. In all the years that people have been getting F2/6 I've never heard a story about immi/embassy double checking with the bank to make sure the money was still there.
