In all fairness, the blog of the teacher MBC reported about does contain some pretty vile stuff. Check out the pie graph in this post:

In another post he listed some of the things he likes about Korea:
"* Using a condom is pretty much optional
* So is consent"

When the worst you can find is stories of a guy having consensual sex, there isn't much to say.
On the other hand, there's websites where Koreans post photos of IDs in front of passed out girls who I assume were less than consensual. But then again... |

I think it has more to do with him being a teacher. I don't think any parent, anywhere, wants to know this type of personal information about someone that teaches their kid. |

I'm not a parent, so these blogs don't bother me. The internet is teeming with "I hate Korea" blogs by foreigners. I just assume the guy is a bit off or he's one of those guys that likes to put up an internet persona, but is completely different in real life. Or probably just letting off some steam.
But if I was a parent and he was teaching my kid, I honestly don't know how I'd react. I know people are people, and I don't expect a grown adult to not be having sex or whatever. But putting it out there on the internet, for an adult/teacher, seems like an odd choice. |

Exactly. I'm a parent and I wouldn't want to know about my daughter's teacher's sexcapades around town and in other countries. If it happened, fine, but what I don't know doesn't hurt me.
This is why Korea fails at English education. This profession is regarded as a joke among the "teachers." What other professional job back home would they be so brazen in public and plaster it all over social media? None. That's how much respect idiot teachers have for the field and why it makes me angry.
This job attracts the party-minded, frat boy type. Fools. They figure hey, this is the first time I'm out of mommy and daddy's basement so they live it up. |

I stopped caring what any Korean thought about me a long time ago. My relationships with Koreans are professiona. Outside of work I have as little to do with them as possible......But yes, teachers (anywhere) need to be sensible about what they post of the internet.
This, however, does not make it okay for the Korean media to seize on every little incident and make a mountain out of a molehill.
At the end of the day who cares what they think of us. I have a very (very) low opinion of them. Let them keep their xenophobia. I used to be upset about Korean depictions of foreigners, now I simply chuckle to myself and enjoy the spectacle of Korea repeatedly shooting itself in the foot. You want to take thousands of potential goodwill ambassadors for Korea each year and turn them into life-long enemies who have nothing good to say about your country, knock yourself out.
Korea's folly is my entertainment. Lower the lights and break out the popcorn.  |

Not a parent either but I definitely wouldn't want someone who puts that kind of thing online to be teaching my kids. And I know it's uncool to admit it but I was pretty disgusted with a lot of the content myself.
It reminds me of the furore there was recently in the UK when it was revealed a teenager the government had given a teenager tsar type job to, had written some tweets a year or two before advocating drugs and being homophobic etc...None of it was as bad as this guy put up. It all might come back to bite him too. |

There are a lot of dumb teachers back in the US that post things they shouldn't on social media.

Whose fault is that? Korea insists on hiring 22 year olds. Hire people over the age 25 though 30's and 40's and you'll have more mature people not doing stupid things. (I know that isn't everyone.) |

I found myself simultaneously repulsed and appreciative of the blog. While lacking any intellect or maturity, it made up for this with blunt honesty. |
