That's not pragmatic. In fact, it's the outright opposite of pragmatism. A pragmatic approach would be moderating our meat consumption and raising animals under more humane conditions.


Well, I would term that a moderate approach. I think I used pragmatic in the sense of being most useful or effective. Actually the original Latin word pragmaticus meant "being skilled in law or business" http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/pragmatic

So, in a radically pragmatic approach, laws may need to be changed to in effect outlaw slaughterhouses and factory-farms, greatly decreasing the unnecessary killing of animals..
