with regards to Koreans definition of obesity, I was told I was at the mandatory NHIC physical I was "severely obese" yet I jog 20-25K/week and have done half marathons. My regular doctor read that and nearly fell over laughing.

Korea also has a growing childhood obesity problem if the kids aren't studying they are playing video games and eating McDonalds and not exercising so you have another problem with the educational system here.

I am about 5-7kg overweight because:

a) I love eating.
b) I love beer.
c) I hate exercise.
d) I'm not bothered about it enough to change.

Not hard to figure out really.

I was at the park, yesterday. I saw 3 western women sitting together among a crowd of people. They stood out like whales in a goldfish aquarium. Without a doubt, they ranged from 25-55 pounds overweight. It wasn't muscle. I wouldn't be surprised, if they were asked about their weight, they would claim that they are actually healthy and fit. They might even claim that their doctor/s back home said so. Usually, these women will spout of some nonsense to try and defend the weight issue. Example; I ran in a marathon or I get on the treadmill several times a week. I've seen several marathons and haven't really noticed that many overweight western women sprinting across the finish line. Wobbling up to the counter at Burger King, that's a different story.

True if you're talking about the US, though as you can see from the statistics below (taken from the American heart association 2013) American men are generally fatter than the women. and Mexican Americans are fattest of the lot. interesting.

Among Americans age
20 and older, the following
are overweight
or obese (BMI of 25.0
and higher):
- For non-Hispanic
whites, 73.1 percent
of men and
60.2 percent of
women.
- For non-Hispanic
blacks, 68.7 percent
of men and
79.9 percent of
women.
- For Mexican Americans, 81.3 percent of men and 78.2 percent of women.

Isn't it just the same stuff people have been saying for years about having to do exercise and eat healthily to lose weight?

nah it's more about how constant high-heartrate cardio-based exercise tells the body to conserve energy (fat) which is counter productive to weight loss. that's why a lot of people who run a lot don't lose the weight they want or even end up gaining some.

it's the type of exercise along with a good diet that leads to weight loss/weight gain. as counter-intuitive as it may seem, running constantly is not a good choice for the exercise.

i dont want to trawl through all the research ive read but from what i can remember, regardless of what youre doing to get in shape, you're body adapts quickly to it. ultimately your muscles will learn to deal with the stress and build up. if you want to bulk up/getcut/lose fat or whatever, its generally recommended to alternate your routine and have a diet to match your goals.
that being said, a low fat/protein diet and running on your energy (sugar/fat reserves) rather than a full stomach, will cut into the fat. The problem is, most people are hungry after a run and stuff their faces replacing what little calories they've just lost

Peasants in developed countries eat the foods they can afford; bags of chips, ramen, pasta, bread, rice, cola, low quality processed meats, and sugar. The foods they can afford also happen to be the foods that make you fat.

I think the link between poverty and obesity is a bit of a myth. That is, people do not become fat because they can't afford to eat healthily. Nutritionists have demonstrated many times that it's possible to buy healthy food more cheaply than ready meals and the like from supermarkets so then another theory was concocted by the left in the UK that poor people didn't have easy access to shops that sold fresh food in their areas so they had to eat processed foods. But then someone pointed out that there were Indian and Pakistani shops in those same areas, where immigrants went, which were full of fresh produce at cheaper prices than the major supermarkets. Let's face it, poorer people often don't have a culture of cooking in their households and live by grazing from the fridge and microwave. It's the foods that don't require any preparation that are more fattening.

Maybe poor people in general are dumber, lazier, have less will power, and have less education...there is at least some degree of correlation I mean (recent immigrants excluded).

Also, hot babes in the West (and anywhere else) have what is known as "erotic capital". They can use that to their advantage and get high paying sales jobs, waitressing jobs, bartending jobs (at the poshest places), etc., and get rich off that (meaning they have less reason to pack up and head to Korea when they're already living the good life in their home countries).
