Hello all,

In Canada it seems they want the name of your employer for getting your CRC, which means I would have to get a different check for each potential employer which is ridiculous as they are 60$ a pop.

I'm wondering if I can use the recruiter name?

Just write N/A.

The CRC isn't for employment purposes, it is for a visa application. There should be a check box for "visa/immigration" or at a minimum "other." Leave the employer part blank, because you don't have one until you start working in Korea.

reason for getting it = passport application.

-Get 2 copies (one for your VCN application and one as a backup).
-Get them embassy certified at your local (has jurisdiction for where you live) Korean consulate.
-Scan them.
-Attach scans to your applications.
-You do NOT send an original of anything until you have a signed contract in front of you. Then and ONLY THEN do you send the hard copy for the actual "visa confirmation number" application.

Just in-case someone can answer it here (I don't want to make a post for it). Will EPIK accept a local medical check that searches the national database. I.E. from the local police dept.

From home, they want a SELF medical evaluation. It is NOT from a doctor.
You get the real medical (from a doctor) AFTER you get here.

Not sure why you would go to the police for a medical check or why your medical records would be stored by the police.

Can you get a police check from a police service other than the RCMP = yes BUT there have been isolated cases of them not being accepted by immigration (Halifax searches spring to mind).

Yeah sorry I meant *criminal record check* I dunno why I typed medical. Brain must be a little loopy. That is odd that it works sometimes and not others, but then I'm learning that this is the case with a lot of things as I move along with this process. Thanks.

Given: the CBC 12 months ago cleared, nothing bad to report on individual.


While applying for a new job, why would you need a CBC from your home country when you have been teaching in Korea for nearly the last 12 months.

I would think your conduct in Korea would weight more heavily given that you live here for the whole duration of time.

Why not get a CBC from the police dept here in Korea?

Am I missing something?

Yes, the difference between immigration requirements and employer policy.
It has nothing to do with immigration, the MOE or the POE.

Either you give them what they want (current copies of your degree and CBC with apostilles and a TEFL) or they take the next applicant - there are plenty for them to choose from.

Immigration and the MOE set the minimum. Employers can ask for more (and in the current labor market they can get it).

Yes you are missing something, it is called logic and bureaucracies and logic do not always go together well. More so here in Korea where they have their own special level of craziness.

In general a new application for a whole new visa means new paperwork. Transfers and renewals you can generally avoid some paperwork.

As to OP, yes a local check that check the CPIC is fine. Make sure the check is verified by proper regional Korean consulate. Problem is some programs like EPIK and recruiters are picky on paperwork. They expect RCMP and will not accept any buts.
