I am wondering how many students you have in your university classes. Also, how long have you been teaching at a university? What was your biggest class size ever?
I am doing a presentation at work about teaching large class sizes and was wondering if our university is the exception rather than the rule with out extremely large class sizes. We average about 55+ students in a conversation class these days. |

Look at your poll numbers again. You might want to redo it |

I think War Eagle is eluding to the fact that you seem to have left out 6-9 in each of the increments of your choices. What does one choose if he/she has 18 students in their class?
You should be able to easily edit your poll. If you can not, I can do it for you.

A guy I know is teaching uni classes of a hundred this semester.
Interesting side-fact: if you talk to older Korean public school teachers, average ps class sizes were 70-80 when they were starting out. |

| I've had as few as 4 students and as many as, I think, 54 in a required class. Would say that 30-35 is the average at my current place when taking the years and majors into consideration. I just began my tenth year at a university. |

That sucks. That means less jobs for the rest of us (just as increased hours mean less jobs to go around). I think we should write letters to the Korean government citing research showing the benefits of small class sizes. (Or maybe write something for publication in newspapers or other media.) |

I am wondering how many students you have in your university classes. I start out with 32 (max) and by the end of the semester, usually have about 28.
Also, how long have you been teaching at a university? 12 years at 3 different unis. 1 for 7 years, 1 for 6 months and 1 for 5 years.
What was your biggest class size ever? 72...at my first uni. And it was a video listening class! I used to bring a water gun to keep them awake!
ETA: For me, the optimal size would be 12 to 15 students in a conversation class. Another good question would be: How many hours do you teach your students and how is that time divided. I felt that my students learned a lot more when they had 2 50-minute classes a week than they do with 1 110 minute class broken into 2 parts. |

My classes average about 20.
This is my first semester teaching at a uni.
I guess I'm really lucky because my largest class only has 22 students. |

My class numbers range from 20 to 30 in a required undergrad English 101 course.
It is manageable if they are good students but interaction between me and individual students can be low. |
