http://news.yahoo.com/first-time-sat-test-gets-canceled-entire-country-213729411.html

"Some 1,500 South Korean students ...are scrambling after the U.S.-based administrator of the SAT cancelled the scheduled May 4 session of the exam due to allegations of widespread cheating. Its the first time the SAT test has been called off in an entire country."

How does student pressure to succeed impact your students and classes?

So they'll just take over the nearest location that offers it and they'll take their cheating ways with them.

That's all they do is cheat on tests (and on boyfriends/girlfriends) and plagiarize to get by. The kids do it in elementary/middle and high school, too. It starts at an early age. They're frauds.

Can you blame them? This society is so competitive and there is so much pressure on these damn kids I honestly cant blame them.

Not to mention 75% of us Western students cheated as well at some point in time.

Not saying I agree but I understand.

Korea seems like a descent place to live but not a great place to grow up.

This is a major black eye for Korea, on the academic front, but Koreans don't seem to care. Koreans who want to study overseas will have to deal with much more scrutiny and you can bet there will be additional interviews and other hurdles. They have no one to blame but themselves.

Korean students are not a monolithic entity. ALL the kids who needed to take this May's exam are suffering thanks to those who cheat.

Koreans suffer because they cheat and lie. They always say "우리는 하나" which translates to "we are one".

Don't try to change the meaning of what I posted, and it's true that everyone is paying the price for a system of academic cheating on the SAT. It's the first time that the entire SAT was cancelled in an entire country but it seems to be taken very lightly by Koreans. So a few cheaters got caught, who cares, right? Those same hagwons and teachers will be right back in business and they'll have plenty of students and parents waiting to get right back to work getting that "advantage"from cheating.
Care to disagree?

Just curious.

Are there junior colleges in Korea? Community colleges?

Or just overpriced Samsung factories called universities? Laughing
