I found a real cheap flight home a couple of days after my ARC will expire. I heard you can stay 30 days after it expires, other people have told me I will get fined a approximatly 100,000 a day.
Can anyone clear this up? (Maybe Tompatz )
Cheers. |

Contact immigration and explain your situation, if you have an outward ticket they will extend it. If you leave beyond the date without informing them, you will likely be fined. You can do this online or by visiting an office. |

If you have a confirmed air ticket out you can get a free extension from immigration until the date of the flight (up to 30 days from the expiry of your ARC).
You NEED to get the extension. It is NOT automatic.
Do NOT overstay your ARC. Fines are assured and the blackmark in your file will complicate any return to Korea you may choose to do in future (home country consular interviews every time as a minimum).
You can get the extension done on the immigration website (sometimes problematic and you need to have your stuff scanned to send to them)
OR
just drop in to your local immigration office. The extension takes about 15 minutes to complete after you get to the counter.
You need:
ARC
passport
ticket out (printout of your e-ticket is adequate).
