Fox is right, you cannot just compare economic data and make sweeping statements about the living conditions of the people. I would bet that average is skewed pretty sharply by the very, very wealthy whites.

In London there are a lot of Saffas and white zimbabweans who have fled, their stories are always the same. It is not just one white saffa who is having a hard time, I personally talked to dozens and dozens of them whilst working in the service industry back home.

Being a minority anywhere is difficult, being white doesn't give you any special protection. In fact in the case of Zim and SA, it can increase your chances of being targeted.

You asked a question which contained within it an implication, and then posted articles which ostensibly served to defend said implication. To be maximally generous, though, here is your opportunity to disown that implication and admit the problems faced by these people.

Yes, Argumentum ad Americanum is a common enough fallacy: as an American citizen, I must just be speaking from ignorance, because that is what Americans do, right? Unfortunately for you, my little mountain town hosts a charming South African couple who has been here as long as I have, and they serve as a source of first-hand information for me (in fact, it's because of them that I started paying attention to South Africa in the first place). They are working on immigrating to Canada. As recently as last year we had another South African girl here as well, the only foreign female I ever met with a determination to get involved with a Korean man (she has sinced moved on to another city in Korea). I have anecdotes and data, yet evidently that is meaningless against reflexive political correctness. God forbid we just admit it makes sense to flee the nation in question. That would be, as a keen analytical mind recently mentioned, ridiculous.

Hardly. I was dismissive because his comment was deserving of it. Skimming through it for a couple of seconds, which is more attention than I've given to any of his comments in a long time, made that quite clear.

Had I not been ill I would have derided his claims to having anecdotal evidence and data. Really, anecdotal evidence? And he takes offense at my observation that he's obstinate enough to speak of things he knows nothing of as if he's an authority? Seriously?

All right. If anecdotal evidence holds so much weight in his eyes...I've known dozens of South Africans (black, white, Indian) in the many years I've been in South Korea and only one was openly and shamelessly racist: she was white.

Ok dont take Fox's word for it. The video on the first page speaks for itself as well as the documented accounts abundantly found on the internet. Why are you trying to minimize the institutional oppression of whites in South Africa? Why are you trying to downplay it? What is your motive? What's your agenda?

To the extent that it's true it's so much less than the instituted when they were in power, that any complaining on their part is beyond hypocritical. That said, it does make sense for them to leave, I had family that left, and the policies that are in place probably have, or at least have started to, out lived their usefulness. I think a lot of the crime has to do with people from neighboring countries coming in rather than native South Africans, but if someone know better, feel free to correct me. Dodge, if your source is a video and anctedotes, pipe down please.

Are you South African? If so, thanks for sharing your perspective in this otherwise unremarkable thread.

No, my uncle, by marriage, is.

Yes. By any reasonable measure. They're safer, they're less discriminated, less hated, less marginalized and have more economic opportunity (less the talented tenth).

They should move to Europe and marry a local. Or do similar in Canada/USA/NZ/USA/AUS. Georgia offers SA farmers land and a special visa. Lots of options. I wouldn't choose Korea, but I would choose to get the hell out.

I think it's really easy for them to get visas in Australia, New Zealand, and maybe UK. I saw lots when I was in Australia.

You are wrong in that descendants of colonists who viciously oppressed the natives have no right whatsoever to be complaining about subsequent treatment. It's not your land anyway, so if you have a problem, GTFO.

(Not to Korea, preferably).

The natives? I could have sworn that the blacks in SA are descendants of the Bantu tribes that came from other parts of Africa. Unless by natives you mean hte Khoisan bushmen, then all is forgiven.

Going by your logic though, if we treat white Americans, white Australians and white Europeans badly it's perfectly okay because they are probably descendants of colonists, too.
