Dodge, I have to side with the women on this one. Your attitude really does suggest you were knocked back a few times in the States and still have a chip on your shoulder about it. Ladies can be wonderful people and company no matter how they look. If you don't find some of them physically attractive fair enough. If they come onto you, let them down gently, otherwise there's no need to bring the subject up. |

I'll take your word for it but we all know some of the biggest mysogynists around are attractive to women. There are plenty of other reasons why you might feel scared/disgusted/inadequate in front of the other sex. Which would account for your attitude. |

My attitude? I don't think I had one. But I'll tell you the reason for it. I am disgusted at the I-don't-care attitude among women AND men in the west concerning their weight. It's embarrassing to go home and try to weave through a sea of fat pigs. Where is their will power? The women parade around online on facebook in their white shower curtain and call it a wedding dress and everyone says how pretty they are.
Fat is the norm in the West, and it needs to stop. Really I can't stand the crowd mentality in being fat back home. It's like they don't even try and just embrace their fatness since everyone else around them is fat, too. It's sickening how accepted the fat culture is. |

Still, do you not feel even a little skeevy boasting about how hot you are on an anonymous messageboard? I'm not saying you're lying, because how would I know, and it's beside the point anyway. There's just something uncouth and desperate about announcing your personal qualities in an internet discussion.

Are you people seriously saying the 75% (or whatever) overweight statistic for people in US/AUS/UK does not apply to people from these countries living in KR?
Why wouldn't 75% of Americans living in KR also be fat? Many of them insist on eating the same crap food they did back home. Perhaps becuase they are younger they are not as fat yet? I could get on board with that. Perhaps KR selects for educated, high income people? I couldn't get on board with that. Lower income tends to be fatter.
So let's be generous and say only 65% are fat due to youth factor. |

So what's your way of not 'siding with the fatties?' Apart from writing nasty things about them on message boards. Do you just snub them in public or are you openly rude to them about their weight? If you had to work with one of them would you refuse to be civil? Do you chase after them in the street shouting names? If a friend or a member of your family put on weight, would you refuse to talk to them again? You seem to be saying that you can 't have a good relationship with someone who's overweight. |

Since when does stating the truth equate to being bitter? I LOVE American women, but only if they are healthy. I never dated fatties back home and if I wasn't married I wouldn't be dating any fatties here.
Geez, you fat people will continue to believe people are "bitter" or anything else for that matter just as long as they can slide another big mac down your gullet without a hint of guilt.
And no one is bitter that they can't get with a walking tub of lard. What are you smoking? |

Okay, there's maybe some truth to that. I always see these tourist couples in Itaewon walking around -- the guy is actually in great shape, holding hands with a huge fatty.
Part of the "fatty love" movement I guess. |

I agree with you bud, the problem is, is that it wouldn't be so bad if the larger folk kept their beliefs to themselves. It gets annoying when people tell me to eat more because I'm "too skinny", when in reality, I am in pretty fantastic shape and eat well. And before people say they are complimenting me, they definitely are not. I'm 5'11 (180ish cm), and about 73kg (160lbs), so I definitely am no twig . Fat is the norm in the west and its startling.
If you get caught lighting up a cigarette in public people will look down on you, whereas gluttonous eating is accepted. Also, facebook drives me up the wall... how often do you see people posting pictures of overweight, er I mean +size models and you see them writing things like "this is what healthy looks like, not those anorexic twig girls"? It just annoys the hell out of me. And on a final note, the thing that annoys me the most is when the festivally plump folk tell me that ladies I am around are "too skinny", and what happens is that these healthy women actually start to bulk up because their husky friends peer pressure them over time.
Anywho, wall of text, thanks for hearing me out English teaching community. Haha. |
