Be warned though, you might have to pay extra for it. I tried to get some with a 10 piece, and the cashier told me it was only available for the 20+5 special. I asked her if I could drop 100 won for one and she said okay. Well worth it. |

They had it during the last olympics for a bit didn't they? or was it just a spicey one? They had some special sauces in as part of their themes. |

Doesn't everyone? Seen the lines at McDonalds? All of your students eat there. |

Ahh yes, rib bbq sauce on chicken. Makes me long for KFC's beef gravy. Sometimes wrong combos are the best. |

Hope you like McDonalds because Koreans love McDonalds and they will soon be everywhere. You may think they are everywhere now but get ready for a period of high growth and rapoid expansion.

the company has been seeing double-digit growth annually since 2007 |
Quote: |
the Germany operation saw its sales double after launching McCafe, while sales increased by 228 percent in China, 137 percent in Indonesia, and 106 percent in the Philippines, |
For sales to increase at that rate in a large market like China is remarkable.
Quote: |
The chain operated 270 stores here but aims to raise this to 500 by 2015, creating a total of 12,000 new jobs. One franchise employees 50 staff on average. Within three years, half of the stores will facilitate drive-thru sales, Newton said.
It is also set to increase the share of franchise stores from 10 percent to 50 percent of those in Korea by the same deadline.
Although 90 percent of McDonalds stores in Korea are currently operated by the company, Korea is a model in leading franchises in Asia, he said.
|
When McDonalds was new to Korea they probably looked for local partners in order to limit liabilities if the restaurants failed. But McDonalds is wildly popular in Korea, among young people, and now the corporation is going "all in" and investing its own money in most, if not all of the new stores planned for the next few years. |

Given how horrible and overpriced Lotteria is, it's easy to imagine why McDonald's is expanding here. |

Sokcho has had an outlet for a couple years. I pass it a couple times a day (never been in) & it never appears very busy. My students are decidedly hohum about it. |

Two things:
First, my McDonald's did not have BBQ sauce.
And second, they wanted to charge me for the sauce they did have. |
