Look up the Scotty clip on the Interwebs.
The ship's centre of gravity is changing in the clip--okay, cool, we can do internal shots of the ship with shit flying all over the place.
Cut to the engine room. *It still looks like a freaking brewery with big tanks and wide open spaces, exactly what you would avoid in a starship with mass-to-area ratio equilibriums to meet.*

You are worried about the "realism " of a Star Trek movie? Do you have the action figures? |

I'm glad he pissed you off. You want me to go google the foundation of your naked rant because you're too lazy to drop a link? |

While I realize that its opening tomorrow makes it a current event, I think you might have posted this on the wrong forum. |

I watched it. It wasn't as good as the first one.
I think "John Harrison" as the villain was the only redeeming quality of the film. |

The first one sucked too. They've dropped everything that TNG, DS9 and Voyager accomplished and returned to the unabashed campiness of the original series. Give me back my smart plots, controversial and interesting themes and internally consistent logic! |

Trying not to drop the "N" word here. But I am just in awe. I thought that I was a geek, with my Frank Franzetta posters I had in my teen years but this thread shows that I was just a flickering match compare to the blazing nebula of true mutanthood .

Eh... It was OK. Maybe a tad on the cheesy side. |

Is this a serious post? If so... wow.
Saw it last night. Not overly serious, yet very entertaining. If extremo nerd trekkies* are hating on it, it's probably a good movie after all.
*(I mean that in the best possible way. Everyone has some nerd in them.) |

I saw it this week, and as a big Star Trek fan I was not annoyed by the minor things mentioned by the OP. What was really disappointing to me was the lack of originality. Basically just a re-make of well-known story. Sigh. I purposely didn't read anything about the movie before seeing it so I could be surprised.
As a movie fan, I'm so annoyed with Hollywood's trend of "going to the well" and just re-making classics (or not so classic) or producing sequel after sequel rather than coming up with new material. I guess this is what audiences want....sigh (again). |
