I'm American and I lived and worked on an E2 in Korea from 2004-2012, 7 months ago I left and moved to Japan and I'm currently teaching here in Japan. I miss Korea and want to go back. My question is in regards to FBI checks I had mine done and everything in the system with all my apostilled documents. Do I need to resubmit a new CRC and can I do all this stuff while still being in Japan? Any advice is greatly appreciated and if anyone knows of a good position that would be great too.

Yes you will. Just use FEDEX to send and return the documents back and forth from Japan. You will have to have a FEDEX account, which is easy to get.

who would ever choose and miss Korea over Japan (unless you are in rural Japan)? Tokyo>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Seoul

I think OP just misses the familiarity and the fact he can communicate better in Korea. I would give it a couple years in Japan before coming back to Korea if I were you. I'd trade places with you in a millisecond if I could.

It does not matter if you had visas in the past. Since you are applying for a new visa then you will have to submit all new paperwork. So for an E2 that will me a new CRC and Degree. But if you get your paperwork all together you can apply for your E2 visa in Japan. Possible skipping a visa trip.

You can apply for the paperwork in Japan. It just will be a bit harder and time consuming to get it done. Or you could decide to go bck to the US and get it done in person. Or even come to Korea on a tourist visa and apply for the papers and waiting a couple of months for things to come, then do a visa run to Japan.

In this day and age of Internet and credit cards, life is whole lot easier. Get started on getting the paperwork together. The earlier you start, the quicker you will be finished. If you are lucky you may find some shortcuts or alternatives. So dig up you degree, find out the details for getting you Uni's state apostille. Google some services and find what is around. Visit the FBI website, ask some fellow Japanese expats where to get fingerprints done and send in your application.

Seriously, take your goddamn hate and complete assumptions elsewhere. I will report you.

OP, I would be interested to hear, what do you prefer about Korea over Japan? I'm just starting out on this ESL journey, and would be interested to know. Smile

Hehehe... The new boyscout apologist has officially entered the scene. How old are you? How many countries have you been to before getting flown to Korea? I'd probably correctly assume that both of those numbers are very low. That being said, Japan is expensive as hell and Korea is definitely a better option for most people starting out. But, if you have the means living wise, Japan > Korea any day of the week, no question about it.

Well, your logic falls flat on its face.

1. A non-racist is far more likely to be more multi-cultural.

2. I was born and lived 10 years on one side of Europe, lived the next 16 on the complete other side of Europe, have travelled to a few locations in the States, Scotland, Italy, France, Belgium, Greece, Ireland... and now Asia. And having lived in 4 countries for a decent space of time I can tell you... Korea is far from the worst.

3. I'm not as far as I'd like to be from 30.

4. I'm here a year and know three guys that are here 12+. We all agree, it's a great country to live in.

Four people agree on something and thus it is true? How about the opinions of the dozens of Koreans I know who find the place absolutely soul crushing? Are their opinions invalid? This isn't to say that Korea can't work for some people, but your opinion does not invalidate theirs.

Go ahead and report me, geek. I didn't break any guidelines. I gave my opinion that Tokyo is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Seoul which it IS.
Now go cry about it somewhere else, beta.

The only one who broke the guidelines was you by swearing.

"I WILL REPORT YOU" ... little cry boy snitch. You suck in life.
