Ah, it's good to be reminded of the little things in life that make it a pleasurable experience: Sonic Youth, an ice-cold beer on a hot summer's day, not knowing Dodge in real life..... |

While Dodge can come off as *beep* sometimes (as well as a couple others on here who seem to constantly brag about their money or ability) Id agree with him to an extent.
In the US more and more people are becoming over weight and its definitely a problem. Not just because they are fat, but when you are that overweight, it brings about a number of problems. Health issues, doctors visits, which brings downward spiral of other things. costs for ALL people because of the health problems etc.
that being said small people need love, fat people need love, people have preferences. |

British tax payers, when they have to pay for the extra 5 billion quid a year the NHS needs to deal with it. |
Why not equally rip on smokers, alcoholics, and drug addicts then too? |
You are right we need to rip on everyone our of fairness and equality. I think ripping on fat people is just easier, especially on Dave's. |

I seriously thought I was the only one. On my facebook almost every single day some guy or girl is posting some 180lb 5 foot woman and saying this is "healthy." I'm like NO, it's not. My cousin is 5'3 and weighs 100 and My aunt and sister are around the same.
Even if you added 20 lbs they're still carrying 60-80 lbs of weight! How can that be healthy?
IF IT JIGGLES , IT'S FAT!-Arnold
Let me tell you something, I came to Korea at 200 lbs 5'7." (I'm Asian) I was not happy with 50 lbs extra weight. Instead of whining there's no sizes for me, instead of going for bigger women and saying its healthier .. I made it my GOAL to lose it and so i did. in 3 months I go down to 150 and then lost another 3 lbs a month later. It is so much easier to breathe and doesn't hurt my chest to lie down.
Only in America where I've seen this "fat and proud" movements on the streets and plus sized stores. I'm really sick and tired of it.
It's not just that, they kinda BULLY people to thinking this is the right way. They hang out with their plus sized friends picking on naturally skinny people and bitching that I like girls who are around 110 lbs. They all gang up on forums and create plus sized women and proud sites. They can't stop posting to the facebook walls, day after day. It also bugs me that fat people are making comments half insults that my relatives are skinny and healthy. I'm like go F off. I'm not telling you who to like, so don't tell me.
I've never seen a grotesquely obese person in the Korean high school I taught at, it was very rare to find guys over 150lbs. And i equally dislike it when other foreigners complain Asians are too skinny and unhealthy. Hey, we have smaller bone structures! I have a 6" wrist!
A person same height and bodyfat 5'3" Asian could look the same 90 lbs as a caucasian 5'3" 105 lbs due to bone frame.
Seriously, if you're fat stop taking everything so personally and stop going into denial. If i had that attitude I wouldn't have made a change.
It's been over 2.5yrs since Ive kept the weight off, you can do it too!

| lol I'm laughing to myself now because if you knew me in real life you'd know I definitely had no problem with the ladies, but since this is the internet I guess you'll never know. |
I'll take your word for it but we all know some of the biggest mysogynists around are attractive to women. There are plenty of other reasons why you might feel scared/disgusted/inadequate in front of the other sex. Which would account for your attitude. |
My attitude? I don't think I had one. But I'll tell you the reason for it. I am disgusted at the I-don't-care attitude among women AND men in the west concerning their weight. It's embarrassing to go home and try to weave through a sea of fat pigs. Where is their will power? The women parade around online on facebook in their white shower curtain and call it a wedding dress and everyone says how pretty they are.
Fat is the norm in the West, and it needs to stop. Really I can't stand the crowd mentality in being fat back home. It's like they don't even try and just embrace their fatness since everyone else around them is fat, too. It's sickening how accepted the fat culture is. |
I agree with you bud, the problem is, is that it wouldn't be so bad if the larger folk kept their beliefs to themselves. It gets annoying when people tell me to eat more because I'm "too skinny", when in reality, I am in pretty fantastic shape and eat well. And before people say they are complimenting me, they definitely are not. I'm 5'11 (180ish cm), and about 73kg (160lbs), so I definitely am no twig . Fat is the norm in the west and its startling.
If you get caught lighting up a cigarette in public people will look down on you, whereas gluttonous eating is accepted. Also, facebook drives me up the wall... how often do you see people posting pictures of overweight, er I mean +size models and you see them writing things like "this is what healthy looks like, not those anorexic twig girls"? It just annoys the hell out of me. And on a final note, the thing that annoys me the most is when the festivally plump folk tell me that ladies I am around are "too skinny", and what happens is that these healthy women actually start to bulk up because their husky friends peer pressure them over time.
Anywho, wall of text, thanks for hearing me out English teaching community. Haha. |

Great doc below. Obesity isn't just a rich nation problem. Poorer countries that previously had to worry about malnutrition are also struggling with it.
