America.

Interesting that you state America has all the best cuts of meat considering more than 60% of its grassfed (pastured) beef is imported from NZ and Australia. Large scale feedlots are still prevalent in the US. Perhaps beef pumped full of antibiotics is an acquired taste?

people who think american beef is good make me laugh. however, he could have meant that all the good cuts of meat get imported INTO america which is quite plausible.

People who don't realize the age the cow was slaughtered combined with the cut of meat are the major determinants of the flavor of their beef make me laugh.

The best steak I've had is Carne do Brazil in Sinchon (I know there's one in Itaewon as well, perhaps more). For 35,000W you get 7 different types of steak, unlimited, with sides of mashed potatoes, salad and pepper type pico de gallo.

I'll second a thumbs up for Carne do Brazil. I've eaten at the Gangnam location. Best steak I've had in Korea.

You guys got me really excited there! That Gangnam location is right across the street from where I am now, at work.

But then I stumbled across this video-- http://www.youtube.com/all_comments?v=QgFbJ4fjxcU , with the following write-up in the comments section:

Perdo, mais... essa churrascaria um lixo, muito longe do verdadeiro churrasco brasileiro.

Eu nunca comeria essa carne.

My Portuguese is limited, but in essence it's saying "sorry, but this is VERY FAR from being the real Brazilian thing" and "I'd NEVER eat that meat."

To be sure, it's an anonymous posting online (like this one, ha!), but with the knowledge of Portuguese demonstrated, I'm guessing s/he knows this stuff better than we do.

you think those things are more important than what the animal ate it's ENTIRE LIFE? you need to go back to biology if that's the case. have you ever been told that your um, man juices taste different based on what you ate from a woman friend? yeah, imagine that on a larger scale and you might get the picture.

sorry to inform you about this, but cows were never designed to eat corn, it inflames their stomachs and upsets them. plus they are often in very tight pens instead of eating grass on an open range as intended so it just multiplies their stress exponentially. stressed out corn-fed cows create very poor meat, and unfortunately most of the american beef market falls in this category. sure aging the meat and at what age it was slaughtered definitely is an important part, but it's certainly not the most important. nz and aus are generally considered to produce the best beef due to a large amount of open-range and grass fed animals.

do your research before you think you know what you are talking about and mislead others.

Gu steakhouse is awesome, but it is also awesomely expensive. But if you don't mind paying a bit (80,000) for a meal, it's totally worth it.

what cut did you get there? and how are they in terms of sides? hopefully they don't toss a sideful of diced radish with salad dressing like most places...

Gu is definitely the best.

(It's old-school steakhouse style: a la carte. Sides are terrific, though)

Checked out San Paulo at SNUE. It is now $33K each by the way.

I dunno, it was fine, nothing to complain about. But I got to thinking how for 80K won (including drinks) I could instead cook up some really great steaks at home.

They did have chicken hearts though, which was cool.
