What's the quickest way to get from the airport to happening areas of Seoul? (I don't live up there so I don't know)

My bro is getting here on Friday night and I want to show him some cool places.

Take the bus from the number 10 area at the airport and get the bus straight into Itaewon.

It depends on what you want to be "happening." The traffic is terrible that time of night. A train may be faster.

There is no train from Incheon Airport.

If you get the 602 bus (check the diagrams at the airport, but it's basically the stand you'll get to if you walk out of the doors near Exit F arrivals-
here's a link http://www.airport.or.kr/Eng/transportation/bus.jsp but I think the stop is now slightly to the right of that one).

You can get off at the first stop (Hapjeong station) and be on the subway going direct to Itaewon or wherever you want, the second stop (Seokyo Hotel) to be within a 5 minute walk of the nightlife areas in Hongdae, or the third if you want to go to Sincheon.

This route avoids most of the traffic because the journey is 90% airport expressway (never jammed), it generally takes about 40 minutes to get to that second stop.
7,000 won.

Is it possible to take a bus over the bridge into the city of Incheon and then connect by subway?

I've never been around Incheon to find out.

Apparently it would take an hour and 20 minutes to get from the airport to the subway station, and then you're still miles away from Seoul.

Until they finish the railway line, the limousine bus is your best bet.

When going into Seoul, I sometimes connect to the subway at Gimpo. You can take a limosine bus from Incheon Airport to Gimpo Airport. I guess it depends on traffic, but it's never taken me longer than 45 minutes (6000 won). Gimpo Airport has a subway stop right underneath. Depending on where in Seoul you're going, it can be a convenient changeover point. Going to into Incheon city first is kind of out of the way, unless you're going to the west suburbs like Bupyeong or somewhere like that.

The 602 bus is your best bet and the fastest. It's easy to get - just walk out of the front of the airport and you will see the bus stops. The 602 comes every half hour and it only takes 40 mins to Hapjeong station which is the very first stop. From there you get the subway line 6 direct to Itaewon or line 3 to Eujiro 3 and walk up to the jongno-Gu area.

All the buses to everywhere run regularly from the airport, so you are never waiting for long. They go to Seoul Station al the time and from there you can take a taxi anywhere for not very much.

Itaewon regular.
Jamsil regular.
Sincheon regular.
Jamsil regular.

Everywhere regular.

If you want lots of big noisy bars with foreigners, go to Itaewon. Easy to find your way around.

If you haven't been to Sincheon or Hongdae before, it can be a little more tricky to find good bars.

The latest I've caught the 602 was at 22:30 on a Thursday night, but I was told then that they run until 22:50.

Actually not to sound like some kind of planespotting freak, but the last flight on Friday arrives from Seattle at 21.40- are you sure you've got the right time?

Basically though, if there are flights, there'll be buses, and the 602 leaves every 12 mins or so
