Outright ban wont happen. When ACs were installed ceiling fans were removed & the MOE, especially with increased summer courses, isnt going to have students melting.

Might well see some new regulatory max settings though, a few degrees warmer than you might like.

Considering the big problems they had in the past couple of summers with blackouts and power grid overload, this seems like a wise precaution.

Because I have an on-going heart condition that sickens my body, I cannot feel any hot weather that is over 31 degrees celcius. I hope it's a good thing.

Easy to say now that you're in Canada.

There are lots of ways to save power and money that they could be utilizing, but don't.

For one, they tend to run the A/C on max, then open all the windows and let all the heat and humidity back in because one princess complains, then 10 minutes later they blast it on max again. Same with the heat in winter.

Draconian measures to limit A/C use cut directly into quality of life. And it really is about being cheap.

One day it's how Korean's don't know how to stop spending and that's why they have so much personal debt (unlike everyone else in the world), the next it's how they're so miserly!

My AC was on full blast last summer, and will be again this summer. Ahhhh.... gonna enjoy it.

Mix1 has it right.
They need to run an awareness campaign about thermostats and how they work.
Then they need to make regulations about insulating and ventilating buildings

Get rid of all that nonsense that wind is bad for you and teach people that windows don't always have to be fully opened or closed.
Tell the princesses to wear an extra sweater and stop wearing shorts if they always find they are cold. 28 summer 21 winter for all public buildings.

Only the metro can get it done properly having a few cars colder and a few warmer than the average.

Good thing I have control over my (mostly ineffectual with the doors and windows constantly being opened and closed without my say-so) air-conditioner. :-/

They're cheap. They're too cheap to do nuclear right, and they're too cheap to build the power plants so obviously needed.

Maybe if friends of the current president are in the power plant business rather than in the environment ruining business, we'll see some progress on that front.

Until then, the government will ask people to not use the air conditioning they've spent their hard earned won on.
