Do people working here base their social life down in Seoul every week (12 miles away) or does Uijeongbu have enough going on? Thanks in advance guys. Dont start officialy until Monday. Hagwons everywhere up here! I am a Scottish guy interested in playing Soccer (of course) drinking (of course) and improving my awful guitar playing.

Celtic fan, eh? For scotch, you can buy 'em supermakets. for guitar, go to any music hagwon and they will arrange a teacher. As for soccer, I have no intention of helping you until Gers resume the Old Firm derby.

I have a close friend in Uijeongbu. It's a gigantic bedtown city next to Seoul.

Seoul is always on the table but Uijongbu has a pretty hoppin nightlife scene of its own. Lots of drunk US soldiers, juicy bars, etc. Not as exciting as Seoul but you def won't need to take the long train into town every weekend for a good time.

If you don't find what you want there, the town is on the #1 subway line so it's easy to get to Seoul.

I recommend the German Haus for decent beer on tap and a lively atmosphere.
