|
|
To buy the Iphone upfront is a little expensive.
I have heard about getting a 2 year plan so that the cost of the phone is less but you pay a little more each month.
Anyone have a monthly plan???
What do you pay per month??? What did the phone itself cost??
Thanks!!! |

Unless you're desperate I'd wait for the 5S to come out at this point. You're over half way to the next release. You can get the latest or take advantage if the price drop for the 5.

Not sure what you're saying, but mine was free. I agreed to 2 years on a plan at 59,000 a month (I think. Maybe it's 62,000/mo.). This was also about 5 months ago and my Korean wife was with me. Not that it would have made a difference, there was a huge ass sign outside the store that said "Free Iphone 5".
They also gave me a 150,000 won credit, free case, film cover and 24 rolls of TP
Sorry you couldn't find the same deal. |

"Free" meaning no up front charges. The cost of your phone is paid over installments and wrapped into your monthly bill. Check the bill. It isn't free.

I know what free means. My bill is 62,000 per month (the plan cost) + 6,000 in taxes/fees. I pay 68,000 per month. The phone was FREE!!
EDIT: Actually, on my bill, looking at it now, it says 26,000 per month for the phone and then -26,000 in discounts!!

All those things are relatively standard, especially after the courts reprimand companies for collusion, as just happened at the end of last year. Still, I pay less per month than you. And, just as I am, you are paying for the phone through your service plan. Except, your plan was inflated before the 'discount'. It's a common marketing trick here. Doing a few price comparisons would reveal a difference of 1-2,000won on the bottom line for the same plan offered by other agents.
If you want another great deal, KT is offerring free cable if you rent their converter box. |

They didn't inflate the price of the plan. The plans with pricing are hanging on the wall in their store. The prices are also listed here. They are standard prices.
Now, while others may have paid for their phone and got a reduction in the price of the plan as an incentive, this was not my case. I agreed to 2 years at the plan price listed and got a free phone. You will not convince me otherwise, lol. |

Bro, nobody is going to give away free iPhone 5s. You know how much those cost the store? Walk by pretty much any non-corp owned store, they all say "get the newest phone that came out for free". They getting that money from you one way or another. Just saying |

I understand that. The OP asked 2 questions:
1. How much is your plan per month?
2. How much do you pay for the phone per month?
And I am telling you:
1. 62,000 + tax
2. NOTHING!!'
If you're calling me a liar, pm me and I'll meet you somewhere and show you my statements!! |

You have too much time on your hands my dude.
I'm not calling you a liar, you probably just don't realize that you are paying for it. Can we use a little common sense here? |

Same on my bill and everyone else's as well. If you want to tell yourself that the 1,488,000 won you're paying for service gets you a "free" phone, more power to you.

TJ is 100% correct here. The cost of the phone is spread out over the duration of the contract. After your two years are up tell them to stop charging your account for the phone since it is paid off, and you will see your bill drop to less than half. They hook people by telling them the phone is free, when actually you are paying for the phone many times over. Been there, done that, and my wife clued me into this. She was paying 20,000 KRW per month when my bill was more than 70,000 KRW. I asked why and she explained it to me.
My smart phone is paid off now, so I told SK to stop charging for a phone that was paid off and they did. I now pay less than 30,000 per month for service only and not the additional 45 - 50k KRW I was paying every month. |
