Situation: I have been accepted for an MA at a Korean uni. I've just come to the end of a gepik contract, and my visa finishes on June 28th (13 month E2 visa). The MA course starts in September. Kimmi have told me I can switch to a D2 visa before my E2 ends with the right documents.
Question 1: Is it still the case that a person must be on a D2 visa for 6 months before they can legally work, and must have a document giving permission from their uni to do so?
Q2: Can the D2 holder work anywhere, or must he or she get permission from immigration for each and every job?
Q3: For those with experience, is it better to start the clock now on the D2, or would taking the D10-C4 route and picking up some money on summer camps be worthwhile?
Q4: My classes will mostly be in the afternoon, Monday to Friday. What are the chances of getting an evening and weekend job in Seoul that would sponsor an E2, and could I study on that?
Thank you in advance for any input. |

These are the answers as far as I know:
A1: Yes, although it maybe after 1 semester (4 months)
A2: I heard that you can work basically anywhere but only for a maximum of 20 hours a week.
A3: Sounds like a lot of effort.
A4: Highly unlikely, but if you visit some hagwons local to the uni you never know one might be interested. |

4) Yes, you can work on an E2 and ADD an activity not covered by your status of sojourn (study) with permission of your employer.
